Re: Is anyone achieving "practical" results from divination?

I've had more luck getting practical information from the I Ching. Usually, though, I get what I need from dreams and meditations. The tarot has helped me in the past but it became very frustrating to me and seemed to give me contradictory information many times.

Yes...It sound like you were being shown a gateway.
In addition to sacred geometry, a study of tarot might help explain. If memory serves, the Book of Thoth was a good one about symbols.

Re: Why do these lights represent?

"Floaters" was the term I needed earlier. I get those all the time too, and they are more prominent on sunny days. You can find some images of floaters in a google search, although that wouldn't explain the talking one. Also check out visual snow, field entoptic phenomenon, and Hallucinoge...

Re: Why do these lights represent?

That could be something going on with your eyes. The vitreous fluid thins and causes strange orbs in our vision at times. There could be other neurological reasons though. It wouldn't hurt to get checked out by an eye doc and take it from there.

Re: Why do these lights represent?

Buddhists call this nimittas. It is very common during meditation. "Nimitta, in the context used here, refers to the beautiful "lights" that appear in the mind. I would point out, though, that the nimittas are not visual objects, in that they are not seen through the sense of sight. A...

Re: What's your favourite magickal song or music genre?

I can't wait to try out some of the music mentioned here! My stuff has gotten old.
My magic of late has been going into paintings during which I've been listening to Pink Floyd and Bach's cello solos. Surprised that I like the Bach! Sometimes a litle Jethro Tull and YES works nicely.

Re: Chaos and Tarot?

So for me I don't see it as being so necessary to let my subconscious "pull the cards it wants me to see", rather I find value in allowing my subconscious to be triggered by the random cards I pull. So if I pull a negative read, it's not that my future regarding a given issue is negative....

Heavy topic. Kierkegaard, Jung, Otto Rank, Colin Wilson might be of some help but I don't think anyone has written anything with specific or direct connections. Camus' Myth of Sisyphus might be a little helpful. You might have to write this book yourself...I'd love to know what you find about this.

Agreed, Phoenix. Sometimes they are the lesser of the evils....and I was thinking of the psychotropics used for depression...not psychosis (that's what I get for doing too many things at once) It just bothers me that they are so widely distributed. They would have had me on 3 different ones concurre...

Re: The Link Between Mental Illness and the Occult

The occult has been good for me in helping with depression. I agree that it all depends on the person and application, tho. It can give your power back and make you stronger both mentally and physically if used correctly. The information age has brought a lot of things to light, such as human traffi...

E., Sounds like the meditation has made you see things very clearly. You might try some metta (loving kindness) meditation to cultivate more compassion. It won't make you loose anything you have gained, it will only add to your practice. The difinative explanation is in the visuddhimagga but you can...

Have you tried any of the natural methods to treat OCD? Inositol, Milk Thistle, SAMe are a few that might be worth trying until you can get the therapies going that Nahemah mentioned. Keep researching and working on it and try not to worry so much. If the world ends it won't be the first time. The s...

Music can be very powerful. I think you already know that music telling you to die might not be helping. After checking your health and the space cleasning, maybe try playing something a little more on the life affirming side. . . something beautiful. Buddhist chanting might help. I like tibetan flu...

You can most likely enhance the mystical nature of the trip by your setting. If you are able to be in nature in some way, that will open up many possibilities of experience. You don't need to be in the woods...a nice back yard will do. I once saw stars growing all over the ground like flowers....and...

I was up until 5 am watching last night. Yes, it really grabbed me after the second episode. I've had similar experiences druing dreamtime, except I became other people in different countries. I've wondered if there was some kind of soul connection between me and those I became. Both time the people...

Re: Why have we not eliminated the middle man yet?

You don't have to work with middlemen, but why not? Sometimes they just show up - without being invited - to teach, warn, guide, etc. It doesn't really matter if they are your own projections or something external. What's important is that you hear the messages. You can't hear the messages if there ...

Re: Not sure what I'm supposed to do or who to ask

Something is trying to get your attention and it sounds like it won't stop until you face it. It doesn't seem to be anything dark at all, and if I had to guess I'd say it's just a part of yourself that needs to be acknowledged, but it also sounds like it could be some sort of guardian. If I were you...

Being athiest wouldn't make any difference, but I believe that the type of life you have led and they mannor in which you die can have an effect on the period following your death (time spent in the Bardo).
