Re: Is there a market for actual mysticism?
No, it's not an issue of authenticity. You need to take a closer, maybe even ruthless look at what you are presenting. If people aren't connecting with you (and there for not getting readings and not donating) it's probably a cop out to assume that they don't appreciate the real deal. Are you coming...

Re: "Where are all the English people?"
I disagree that it's only a matter of white racism or nationalism, there is a huge cultural shift in play. It's a mistake to accept that the passing of the old will necessarily be replaced by a "better" new. To illustrate my point, let's shift to a different example of the same basic trend...

Re: Thought reading
Can powerful entities "hear" silent prayer? Sure, but if you are in effect whispering why would they care to listen? Prayer, to God or Satan or any other entity is done to focus your intent on them. Doing it out loud puts you more "in the game" much like writing something down he...

I liked the show but they wrapped it up last season. I'd rather see a show end well than see it run as long as they can milk it only to end like Lost.

Re: Isn't there any real black magic?
If your premise is that nothing could possibly be real because stupid tv shows did something like that, you may overlook truth under your nose. Likewise your idea of what constitutes "Real Black Magic" may be too limiting. It seems that if it doesn't look like what you think it looks like ...

Re: Meditative Trance -vs- Hypnotic Trance
I just read an excellent book on exactly this subject. "Hypnotism and Meditation" by Ormond McGill gives the topic a better treatment than a forum thread can. Short version is they are different trance experiences but you gain from both. McGill was a hypnotist of great renown in his time....

Re: Isn't there any real black magic?
I think Poison Pen shines a light on an interesting possibility. The darkness of this book isn't entirely in the text. The copy of the book, the specific copy given by a woman who was in the process of going down the path of suicide in an effort (maybe) to bring another to death is as likely as anyt...

Re: Proper practice and study?
English writing of that era was obtuse enough. German translated to English then passed down a couple generations makes for a hard time to really dig into. Add to that the basic fact that it's a slow process and it's easy to see why so many of us start that path but don't go far with it. Shame, beca...

Re: Isn't there any real black magic?
There is a certain Occam's razor likelihood to the conclusion. The comparison has been made (since page one of the thread) between magick and knives or guns. The tool doesn't know or care if it's being used by a hero or a villain. It's not inherently evil. It's got the potential to be used for evil....

That's your interpretation of black magic. I was thinking more of the classical 'kill, rape, sacrifice babies"-black magic when I made this thread over 2 years ago.

Re: The Hoodoo Truth by Doc Conjure
The oldest written material I'm aware of is from the '20s. William Seabrook wrote some accounts from his time in Haiti. Written by an outsider looking in, but Seabrook was not unobservant and he was an occultist. There was a woman who travelled around the U.S. around that time seeking out the root w...

Re: The Hoodoo Truth by Doc Conjure
Excellent short piece, and in many ways spot on. I'd like to talk a bit about what the author describes in point 3, about sources who lied. It's common, and to a degree excusable, to get carried away when interviewed by a clearly gullible interviewer. I mean..... some people might as well get down o...

If you want to do this, there is a psychic entertainers organization you may want to look into. They have a magazine, meetings etc. That would give you some ideas about how to go about getting work. They can be found at p-e-a.org

Wow, where to begin. I have trouble cutting and pasting on this device, so I will refer to things said, not actually quote them. First, yes, Jesus performed magick and said others could do the same. Jesus was powerful and truthful, the bullshit in the bible and in the faith came in over time, but He...

Have you tried looking into who the doctor was, if he's still alive, and if he may have and still may be practicing? Could be as simple as going to him and talking to him about it. Maybe he did something that made sense at the time but may be reversed now?

Re: Gurdjieff on Immortlity.
Biblical antedeluvian lives and alchemical life extension are not the topic of Gurdjieff's article. My statement was that he wrote about paths to immortality; the paths of the yogis, the fakir and the monk and lastly of the "sly man" who he seems to favor in the piece. He writes of those p...

I'm sure there are nice peaceful covens, and there are probably many covens with weirdo toxic people in them. Let's get real, the occult seems to attract a lot of strange birds who think they're dark satanus necromaster vampire witches, so I'm not surprised at all that there would be some uncomfort...

Re: Gurdjieff on Immortlity.
The last paragraph struck me the most powerfully. A couple of observations leading to one conclusion. First observation being that this is an essay about immortality written by a deceased author. Next observation: he describes paths to immortality that all end in the grave. There are no examples of ...

Magic, as in illusion...
Who here is a magician? By magician, I mean illusionist. Any pro performers? Amateurs? Myself, I am at best a dabbler at magic. Like a lot of children I was enthralled by magicians, but lacked the discipline to put in the practice to be good. Over time, I just stopped with "tricks" but I h...

Re: What do you think causes "demonic possessions"?
It's a good question. On the one hand, there has long been a prevailing theory that 'dabbling' in the occult, playing lightly with Ouija or tarot or the like or otherwise opening ones self to entities is when they get hold of some one. Then there are cases like the one in Peru where the school child...
