Re: Solitary Practice - Guides

I'll stick to this roadmap: http://osogd.org/education/the-second-or-zelator-knowledge-lecture/on-the-general-guidance-and-purification-of-the-soul-v2-0/ And I'm going to use provided methods although approaching my Angel is something I'm already trying to do in my meditations and prayers. When elem...

Re: shielding spells

By the way, if my teacher couldn't help me with this basic stuff, then I would look for a more compatible teacher. A few question about energies and my experiences is a great filter for false masters. Even highly acclaimed teachers fall flat on their face although the grace with which they do it var...

Re: shielding spells

Also of note, A lot of natural shielding comes from one's "way of being" or "aura" or "mode of life". A simple lesson would be to choose the friends and lifestyle that promotes growth and eliminates disease. I'm an empath myself and every time I feel beaten up psychica...

Re: Solitary Practice - Guides

Making my own rituals? Yes, making your own. If that concept is beyond you, I recommend you read a decent bit more before actually attempting to do so. Use Arthur Waite's Book on Ceremonial Magick to learn the general idea behind how rituals work. I can't offer anything else really specific. Just l...

Re: Essence of magick

Don't think that exists. For all it's "openness" chaos magic is really pretty basic. It's more a collection of a few new techniques and new takes on a few old techniques combined with the whole meta-paradigm concept and wrapped up in a certain aesthetic than it is an actual system of magi...

Visions from the Twilight Zone

I hope that someone will check this sub-forum. Today I had a very shamanistic vision, everything was very shamanistic. I'm really surprised as I wouldn't consider shamanism as my path. I was laying in bed with a laptop computer, reading on occult stuff as usual. I got really tired while listening to...

Re: Solitary Practice - Guides

It's all solo to me. Even if in a group. There are books for GD self practice as well. Can you mention some aside from the "Twelve Steps..." and "Complete GD" by Regardie? Can someone PM me with some stuff by Phillips Cooper ? At least one longer article or book or preview? I ca...

Re: Essence of magick

I would prefer something post-modern, free-form, practical, relatively simple, directed at solitary user something like sigils. Or a general book about chaos magick. An expanded Liber MMM I would consider a paragon example what I'm looking for.

Re: Essence of magick

I posted in "chaos magick" forum. Basically I would like to learn something useful before dropping the magick altogether in pursuit of mysticism. Sigils seem interesting. They are simple, freestyle spells with basically infinite application. The rules to follow are simple, the technique in...

Essence of magick

Ok, I was just wondering if you are able to give me three books that have it all for full training in magick? If there's one book that's even better. I like the cartoon version of chaos magick introduction - it's simple, straight to the point and all you have to do is apply it.

Definitive Kabbalah book

I start to feel the Tree of Life and for the first time in my life it starts to resonate with my imagination. I need some non-orthodox book aimed at practising magicians. Preferably, something all-encompassing, written in a contemporary and straightforward language and with depth seriousness of some...

Re: Occult Yoga and what's next?

Your words resonate with my experience. Anyway, I'm going through an intense transformation so it is a possibility that only now LBRP starts to unfold its full potential. I've also noticed that MP greatly enhances LBRP and when I was doing it successfully I cannot express the lightness and freedom t...

First of all, thank you for your time. I would appreciate any help and advice! I was on and off MPR 3 times already. Re: Occult Yoga and what's next?

Actually, I stick to Golden Dawn's methods and the shortest path from the start to the HGA. Before I had a lot of practice with yoga and meditation and to be honest that helped me a big deal. After reading Crowley and many others I believe that without ability to meditate properly one's shouldn't ap...

Occult Yoga and what's next?

I recommend to get "Your Aura and your Chakras: The Owner's Manual" by Karla McLaren. She doesn't stress her sources but proposed by her exercises are variations on basic HOGD rituals. Instead of LBRP we have the Sentry, Middle Pillar we change with the Golden Sun and I.O.B. from Kraig's s...

Re: On the Elements

A lot of work in magickal theory is fitting other stuff into the theory rather then the other way around. A perfect example is attributing elemental qualities to directions or even archangels. So while will enough work and education elements are literally everywhere, the thing remains arbitrary and ...

Re: On the Elements

I'm a modern man and classical elements seem a bit archaic to my mind. Sure, with enough meditation I'm able to use them but surrounding Universe is much more energetic, quantum and cosmic then natural elements of ancient philosophers.

Re: On the Elements

Hmm... If one's doesn't like elements at all, what he's left with? I believe whole Hermetic tradition is heavily based on classical elements. Maybe chaos magick leaves some room and probably Eastern stuff like yoga and Buddhism can be used without their elements. Anything else?

Re: Intentional misinformation in Occult Books

With the cross, I just follow the heard.

It's an obvious one but Crowley liked to hide things behind symbols and double-meanings. Chapter on sacrifice from babies is a perfect example.

On the Elements

Hi! On one hand, classical elements seem intuitive and with some variations they remain pretty consistent around the globe but I was wondering if anyone tried to change them? I was thinking about something obvious like making modern stuff with electricity and "virtuality" but anything goes...
