Good to see someone from a similar part of the world hanging out here, and I liked your writings about Burroughs in the Art section.

Hi :)

Which other forums do you post in? Not that I have anything against this one, but I'm always looking for more knowledge and discussion.

Re: What music are you listening to now?

I've only just been able to get into dubstep on the odd occasion, and even then only for general listening, don't know how people enjoy it out at clubs.

Something a bit deeper and heavier:

Of course it is, she was an amazing and inspirational woman, no matter what your religious beliefs :)

Re: Wiccan vs Wiccan

Yeah I have to agree, the whole Margaret Murray theory of 'hidden cults passed down via word of mouth down the centuries' was discredited a long time ago, and I understand the longing to feel like you're part of an ancient tradition, but history just doesn't agree with it. Not that that discredits w...

Re: Interpreting this pendant

All valid points.

Though for all we know, it could just be something someone made because they liked the way it looked. A lot of people get caught up in looking for symbolism that may not be there. Then you end up seeing occult symbols everywhere.

Sometimes a necklace is just a necklace.

Re: Am I right in assuming this place is quiet?

Another thing to bear in mind is that (at least in my experience) the larger a forum is, the greater number of immature/'fluffy'/delusional/trollish posters you end up with. I did a lot of looking around before I landed on this place, and this one seems by far the most mature and even minded. Best t...

Yeah it seems a bit that way to me too, which is a shame since I haven't found any other decent boards for this kind of discussion :|

Re: Magic Is Mundane

Well, I've been trying to figure out any form of divination since 2000 and have never had an inkling of results. So, I'm coming to believe that divination is BS, despite my extreme desire to acquire some kind of ability. I think I've made efforts to push myself, but the list of what "works&quo...

Correlation between the 4 elements & the 4 states of matter

While it should be obvious that there's not much of a connection between the elements as the term is used in magic and the chemical elements of modern science, I've always felt there's a fairly obvious correlation between the 4 greek elements used in so many magical traditions and the 4 states of ma...

Re: Magic Is Mundane

Another thing that occurred to me is whether you've actually tried anything outside what you consider to be doable? A lot of people never really push themselves once they've decided what they can and can't achieve and settle into a bit of a niche, and I'm not just talking about magic but in all face...

Re: Magic Is Mundane

It just comes with the territory, I think. When you combine a medium like the internet which is prone to misinformation and extreme views and you combine it with a subject like the occult which is highly debated and relatively underground, it can attract people who insincere about their beliefs and ...

Re: Blending Christ.

In my experience most christian's pick and choose which parts of their religion they want to follow, or which interpretation rings true for them, so I don't see why you couldn't merge some of their practices with your own wiccan beliefs. A lot of Jesus' teachings are very compatible with any religio...

Re: Interpreting this pendant

I see a crescent moon with two linked spirals, the combination makes me think it's probably wiccan in origin. The crescent moon is a symbol regularly used by wiccans (who associate the moon and it's three phases with the concept of the triple goddess), who are also often fond of celtic imagery. The ...

Re: Re- Beginning My Studies Of Occultism?

@OP: I would suggest Initiation Into Hermetics if you want something more "intermediate" to sink your teeth into. I'll second this. I'm in a similar situation in regards to re-entering my studies after a time off, and I've found IIH immensely helpful. It provides a step by step guide to p...

Hi and stuff

Just registered, thought I'd do the polite thing and pop in here to say hi :) A bit about me and where I'm coming from, I'm a 20-something Aussie bloke. I've had an interest in the occult since a very young age (like a moth to a flame) and by the time I was 12 I was borrowing everything I could from...
