Re: A Theory of Agnaw Upon Suffering
My beliefs aren't so far off from those of Lord Ferocia, but I would explain them differently. I was raised Christian and in my seeking as I grew I asked the big questions. Why is this person born healthy and that one sick? That one rich and that one poor? That one with parents who care yet another ...

Re: Why Magic actually does work
What I've gotten from this thread so far reinforces what I've been thinking for awhile now, that majik is imaginary. I say it that way on purpose, and it doesn't mean its not 'real'. I think many people would agree that 'majik is everywhere' and that it is 'stimulated by the imagination'. This is ju...

Re: Beginner - System Fit
Why seperate science from magic? I agree with Asurendra in that point that scientific work is in fact a tool set for understanding this world but connected to a certain way of work which does not exclude that someone can't do another thing besides that. Otherwise I wouldn't be here in this forum ri...

Re: Beginner - System Fit
I don't know. Maybe I misjudged how easy it would be to reconcile my beliefs/ideas. I stand by my assertion that magic and science are not nearly as far apart as some want to make them. Chemistry use to be alchemy. Astronomy use to be astrology. Science can only be accused of dropping what it doesn'...

The people I know that belong to OTO lodges do not have blind faith. Oh, I know I switched it up between paragraphs, but I wasn't equating the OTO with the blind faith I was talking about. My magical experience is very limited. The difference I was trying to imply was those who do ritual by knowing...

Re: Beginner - System Fit
Just a thought, all of your interests are encompassed in the broadly encompassing pragmatic practice of thelema. If you were to visit an O.T.O. lodge you would find taoists, hermeticists, satanists, alchemists, and even an occasional christian. I hope I am not black listed for this... I always gott...

Re: Beginner - System Fit
Given some of your interests, I'm surprised you would imply a connection to a duality such as 'religion' vs. 'science.' In a Buddhist, subjective idealist, worldview are these not merely empty and random constructs? If, by science, you mean that you will use a device to quantifiable measure the rad...

Re: Beginner - System Fit
... Maybe I could get some recommendations from some of you who have tasted many Majickal Practices. Many of my beliefs mirror Theosophy and Esoteric Buddhism. I like to stretch and feel/manipulate energy. I play with energetic healing. I am very interested in astral travel, which I've played with; ...

Beginner - System Fit
. I'm not new to the Occult but I'm newish to Magic. Though I see Magic in everything, I haven't actively engaged it as a System. I engage it when I stretch, when I meditate, when I'm in deep thought or deep attention. But by System I mean a structure, a Magical Practice. Before I commit to a practi...

I'd like to ask a couple things here on the same topic: Location... 1) Is there already a thread where people give a yell out where they live ( if so, can you direct me to it) 2) If not, coincider this it... Hi, I live in Asheville, NC 3)This probably isn't doable (well, not easily) but can you imag...

Re: Well Met Fellow Seekers
We each view Truth in our own way. And describe it with different words. It doesn't necessarily mean we're talking about different things. Just because I think we are all connected to Truth doesn't mean I think we have direct access to it. And if someone reacts negatively to a truth it means there i...

Re: Well Met Fellow Seekers
This may not be the best way to say it but...
The Source (God, whatever you call It) is the Ultimate Truth, as well as our animating source and as such (IMHO) our connection to Truth.
Just my view. Again, not sure that's the best way to explain it.

Re: Well Met Fellow Seekers
The truth is a funny concept [grin] Welcome Too True :) It is more like a horizon that we walk toward than an actual destination. Or a mirage which fools us (or more likely with which we fool ourselves). And yet it is one of those tangible intangible things (if I may). One of my core beliefs is tha...

Well Met Fellow Seekers
Howdy, I am Scott. I go by manofsands online. I'll prolly pop in and out of here depending on mood and inspiration. I love such discussions, I'm only regular in spurts. I am interested in many areas of the occult; Truth, hermetic, energy manipulation, the astral, and the behind the scenes. I'm not i...

Re: HELP Dream interpretation needed - possible demon
Dont know if youre still looking for help with this, I have a couple questions if you are. 1) how did you FEEL in the dream? Scared, comfortable...etc 2) WHY do you think they showed you Samael? 3) what do you think was in his book? 4) can you draw/describe the symbol? 5) can you rephrase this... wh...

Re: How to do sigil magick properly
Couple comments... ...on the forgetting about the Sigil. I believe a lot of that is just about... if you sigil something you want, and dont forget its meaning... then you are still "wanting" and not "having", ya see? I personally use sigils differently,... as a reminder. If you r...

Re: who summonsed the Jinn?
Well Met. Can you elaborate on the experience itself? Im assuming Djinn are invisible, in what way did you sense them and how do you know them as Djinn rather than some other astral entity? This as an example, any one can chime in, what are some good examples of immediate defense and longer term def...
