Re: Free Belief (for those experienced with the method)
okay but when you pathwork and decide I'm gonna work on this path you pick a Hebrew letter (some sigil some guy made) and meditate right? I understand most chaos kiddies are casting sigils for sex and money, and these guys totally missed the point entirely. when you start using the rose cross you s...

Re: Free Belief (for those experienced with the method)
Just as a side note, kinda sad that this is my second post in a pretty much first attempt to get involved in occult chat. What should I expect to get out of this forum? It confirms my belief that any sort of attempt at getting involved in a broad magical community is a waste of time. You'll be hard...

Type your stuff up in Word first then copy and paste. You should save extravagant works anyways and look over them in the future!

I think the whole focus on sigils is a waste of time. Chaos magic has convinced everyone that magic is some easy access toy, them provided you guys with the most basic of psycho-dramatic tools. Don't sweat about it too much, just pick up some better authors!

Re: Balancing curiosity with sticking to a single path
Why doesn't the center of your practice just focus experimentation? How different are these paths you're practicing? If your system doesn't allow you to play around or stray from the path then get out and move on.

I'm not sure how to search for this via what terms to use so I'll just ask here. How many of you, without consuming mind altering substances, have had true encounters with other beings in an a conscious, lucid, state during a ritual? You don't have to say exactly who or what they were, just a brief...

Re: why is Qabalah so important to magick
There really aren't too many Egyptian ideas in the western esoteric tradition. Most of the ideas come from Coptic texts or Gnostic ideology, neither of which really represent Egyptian ideology.

Re: why is Qabalah so important to magick
I see an alarming amount of misinformation here, I suggest a study of all these system people are claiming fit with or used Kabbalah for the OP. It's become almost propaganda in the occult that the ToL is some perfect tool, which isn't surprising considering the biggest orders have been using it ove...

Re: why is Qabalah so important to magick
Honestly? Because the biggest occult groups during the revival, especially closer and into the 1900s, used it as the central of their ideology, usually the initiation system. When Crowley became big he brought the tree of life et al with him from groups like the Golden Dawn.

Re: Satanism, Tantrism and the Left Hand Path
@Rin, actually self deification goes back to predynastic Egypt, and appears long before we even have texts from India. It's pretty much the oldest belief on the matter. I would like to hear more on it Hadit. Before the domination of the Osirian cult pharaoh's believed they would become among the go...

Re: Satanism, Tantrism and the Left Hand Path
Yes, the western LHP is the one and only LHP in the modern world. Heterodoxy is still an enslavement to the RHP, and when you add on the end goal of disillusion it's clear that the supposed Eastern LHP is not left at all. @Rin, actually self deification goes back to predynastic Egypt, and appears lo...

Re: Satanism, Tantrism and the Left Hand Path
I think that the LHP and RHP dualism comes down to the end goal. Some groups want disillusion or paradise, others want deification. The two are logically incompatible, making them two different paths.

In Defense of the Setian Tradition
Many people question whether the modern Setian tradition is valid and in line with Egyptian myth. There's no doubt that the Temple of Set has a lot of satanic influence, but they are certainly grounded in Egyptian belief as well. I will be as brief as possible and address further questions in thread...

Very good post, ie. you drilled into some deep territory about who we are, where we come from, and why we can do what we do. What you're suggesting sounds a fair amount like the Lucifer impulse the way I've heard some people describe - ie. the urge to evolve. The only thing is the concept still lea...

The Gift of Set
Human beings, as well as a few other species to some extent, have something unique about them. While most of the universe goes by unquestioning, some species are able to ponder the world around them. Where a majority of “stuff” out there is wholly slaved to gravity, sunlight, sickness, etc., others ...

Well, Baphomet is likely to be a perversion of "Mohamed", meaning if any crusade group worshiped it they were probably just ignorantly mixing their beliefs with Islam. The Templar's were also likely set up by the king and Pope, as they were become rich and strong enough to stand independe...

I have professors ask me to come in and guest speak on the Left Hand Path tradition, so I probably am somewhere around "expert". I problem is I don't care about "expert" information like dates, I'm a student of the philosophy and practices.

I'm pretty sure both Atum and Ra are at least mentioned in the pyramid texts. You're thinking of Amun, who rose to popularity in the new kingdom and became Amun-Ra.

I just take a moment for a few deep breath and vibrate the name of the god who's turn in the cycle is. Khepri upon waking, Ra at noon, Atum in the evening, Set before bed.
