Shamanism related stuff (links mostly please)
Original post: Amur
As this area seems to be a bit more uncommon on these forums I thought I'd spice it up a little. There are no real techniques on practicing Shamanism as these will be directly learned from the teaching Spirits and through own experience and growth. Most of the techniques are ones to induce an altered state of consciousness.
Tutorial into what a shaman is
http://www.toteg.com/wannabe.html
Differences between Kundalini initiates and Shamanic Initiates
http://www.kundalini-teacher.com/awakening/shamn.html
A site about the meaning of animal symbolism
http://www.geocities.com/~animalspirits/
'Shamanic' tools
http://www.shamanscave.com/shamanic_tools
While I personally dislike Harner this article offers nice information
http://www.shamanism.org/articles/857415539.htm
Moderate general FAQ with lots of book names on shamanism
http://deoxy.org/shaover.htm
Of course a wikipedia link must make it's way here also
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shamanism
Read the "What is a Spirit Animal?" section
http://www.pathofthefeather.com/pof3.htm
Article about shamans
http://www.llewellynencyclopedia.com/article/153
A nice book into introduction of 'speaking' with animals and your totem animal is Animal Speak by Andrews.
More links will follow when I find any worthy ones.

For those who may want to work with indigenious cultures who are rapidly being wiped out:
Cultural Survival
http://www.cs.org/
Survival International
http://www.survival-international.org/
If you decide to do field work with these groups you get to meet some of the last indigenious shamans. It would be quite a memorial experience.
