Buddhism In Asia

Post by Occult Forum Archive »

Original post: medelino

I've ordained as a junior-buddhist monk twice, in the last year. First in a small temple in a fishing village in Thailand and then in inland Malaysia. To be a monk in a buddhist country like Thailand is one experience and to do the same thing in a muslim country like Malaysia is quite a different experience. The bottom line is that I found both practices very fruitful.

Buddhism in Asia is not at all what most westerners expect it to be. In my experience it's far more relaxed to live in a monastery in Asia than what it is in the west. Asian-buddhist cultures also include superstition in their practices...

What's your take on that?
