Myths about Satanism

Post by alex nero »

Myth:Satan is a creation of Christians Truth:Satan was around long before Christianity;and ,called by different names, around longer than even Judaism. Satan means "adversary" in Hebrew, but it is believed the word Satan derives from the ancient Egyptian god Set,lord of darkness and storms.Even before the Jews had an idea of an adversary, the god Ahriman figues prominently in the Zoroastrian religion as the opponent of the "good" god Ahura Mazda. Is Satan Set,is He Ahriman? I believe so.Regardless,Satan was not invented by Christians, but frequently used as a scapegoat and fear-inspirer to keep the "faithful" in line. Myth:Satan causes everything bad and terrible to happen in the world. Truth:Firstly,"bad" and "terrible" are subjective words which may hold different meanings for different people.Secondly,"good" and "bad" things happen to everyone---no one is immune. To blame one being for all misfortunes is not only a blatant disregard for one's own actions,it is an easy way to explain away anything in life one does not like.Satan does indeed represent dark and powerful forces, but to those who serve Him,Satan is a just god.Satan is not the one who inspires the death of millions in His name, like the gods of Judaism,Christianity, and Islam do.Things happen due to cause and effect, due to action and consequence.Sometimes people or gods may be the cause, sometimes it is just synchronicity. But the next time someone wants to blame Satan for anything, looking around, or in the mirror, would be a better place to look.
