Hello,
I haven't found anything really on ritual drumming and/or inducing a state of trance. Does anyone know of any good books (I prefer epub or pdf) on the subject?
Help would be much appreciated!
Blessed be.

I'm just chiming in because I'm also interested in this.
In the meantime. Check out Michael Harner audio albums. I find them to be very pure and have simple but useful drumming.

Thanks!
Yes, simple is good. There should only be subtle changes in rhythm and pitch over time, for it to be effective for inducing trance. And longer than twenty minutes.
I read that in an article, but can't find it.
Well, hopefully someone knows a couple of good books on it.

I don't know much about this topic but you might want to look up Louis Martinie! He is a voodoo priest, a ritual drummer and a friend [smile] He also wrote some books about his work including this one: http://www.amazon.com/Priests-Head-Drum ... 1890399248

I find that once I let blood, I immediately hit a pretty big high.
If you are looking into hoodoo- it's blood magic at the end of the day. And the pantheon listens when you bleed.
From my experience, the trance comes with the invocation. And my invocations usually are easiest with blood.

Wait, what? Where did you get this idea that hoodoo is blood magic? And which pantheon are you referring to? Please elaborate. I've been practicing hoodoo for nearly two decades and wasn't aware it was pantheistic or advocated self-harm for the purpose of getting high [eek]BelleMorte wrote:If you are looking into hoodoo- it's blood magic at the end of the day. I'm a bit confused here and a little concerned too.
Witchcraft and other sympathetic magicks, including Hoodoo, do use blood on occasion, but not all the time and it's not necessary for invocation purposes, spirit within, blood within, no real need.
You may be addicted to the sensation of release and that is concerning in and of itself.
