Progressive music

It hasn't been a long time till I started to listen to progressive rock, but it was love at first listen [smile]

I found many interesting bands I would like to share, and I want to find many different progressive bands. As the topic title says, this thread is about progressive music in general so it can be jazz, progressive rock, metal, electronical music or whatever that you listen to or now about.

Characteristics of progressive music are evident to those who listened to it, but to recognize it in another type of music it sometimes asks for different type of knowledge about music. Personally I don't have it concerning electronical music as I've just began to dive into the genre.

I would recommend something as to begin with topic and inspire action to share other music that you find pleasant to your ear and taste:

I love funk, and when Metal eats funk it makes this sexy music.
Dream Theatre, Meshuggah,
This whole channel https://www.youtube.com/user/SubGrooveRecTV

I could go on for so long. Prog metal and trance are by far some of the most creative things ever done with music since the inception of music itself.

I love Animals as leaders. Saw them live a little while back. The Fall of Troy used to be my favorite band, they were really progressive. Right now I am listening to Deafheaven.
Proggy styles I love:

Art Punk / Noise Rock
Mathcore
Footworking, Post-dubstep styles in general
Progressive trance, Future garage
Neofolk
emo / skramz
any type of black metal fusion genre

This album has been one of my recent re-obsessions. Especially this video. There are a lot of secrets hidden in the story told in the music and video.
I don't really think it's prog, but it is.. Uhm... "Djent-y."

EDIT: I forgot to mention this, but the first videos by EternalReturn remind me a lot of Pink Floyd, another band that is never bad (They were best when their original vocalist *just* started going crazy).

A prog thread and no King Crimson references, what a lapse!

Besides being great musicians, Fripp is very interessed in wicca magick.

Well, being in a progressive rock band (Tinyfish) I can recommend some of our stuff...
Nine Months on Fire which is about a guy who undergoes unspeakable rituals to achieve immortality.
Cinnamon which attempts to encapsulate the experience of magic in a song...

@magari: Samsara blues experiment is a great band [thumbup]

@haelos: Phideaux does remind me of Pink Floyd but with darker undertone. It uses similar sounds and similar emotions are invoked when I listen to them. That's why I love listening to Phideaux.

@Moth: you guys sound great [yay] I enjoy it very much [smile]
