I got my silver edition of the Gita today. Slightly bigger format and a lot more text. For anybody who haven't order yet. Get the silver instead of the blue.

Many occult topics and these religions are linked. Many occultist are also religious or spiritual and practice or study these books for those reasons. Many examples of magic and psychism exist in these books. Many adherents and occultist alike speak of the actual power connected to certain verses. Many of them are used for divination. All can be used to study psychology and myth.

I got a boat load of Buddhist books last year in the mail. Took forever to ship to me. The bible I ordered never arrived, but oh well that's one of the easiest books to find.

It was Joseph Campbell who said, ''Religion is misunderstood myth.''

In myths, there are truths. It's these kernels of truth found in religious texts that the serious occultist is interested in.

But there is value in non-religious mythology and one can find kernels of truth in folklore for example.

Depends on how you define "occult".
