I don't know about Bardon as a beginner's book.
Don't get me wrong, there is no question of it's place among the great works of 20th. Century occultism.
However, Initiation Into Hermetics provides a pretty intense curriculum that beginners can find daunting if not outright intimidating.
You might take a look at Donald Kraig's book Modern Magick: Twelve Lessons in the High Magickal Arts.
It has a somewhat gentler learning curve, and covers the basics.
Have you considered what type of Magic you are interested in studying?
This might help folks to refine their advice to you.
In the meantime, you might want to consider taking up Yoga and meditation.
Always a good place to start.

Yes, Kraig's modern magick is easier than IIH indeed. And usually I recommend it as well and when someone asks about recommendation I usually post some other books, however, this lineTheSeeker wrote:I don't know about Bardon as a beginner's book.

really makes me think he should do IIH and then PME.haliwa_89 wrote: I would want learn how to perform spells an eventually evocation rituals.
And IIH is really a beginners book. Just an intense one. But because of that, you are able to perform almost any type of magick once you finish it, not just evocations.

Mercury is in retrograde so you won't get any long answers for now, But before you cast a spell you need to train yourself to reach a certain level of mental strength.haliwa_89 wrote:Hey everybody I'm new to all of this an I would want learn how to perform spells an eventually evocation rituals. Re: how to get started with the basics
Thanks everybody. I'm still learning but I've read that the left hand is to change life more to your will so I guess anything that pertains to that. Either way its not white magic, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to learn a variety.
