Koetting's 'Soul Travel' Course

Post by Napoli »

Did anyone here do the 'Soul Travel' course of Koetting? Here are my questions-

1. Is it really different from astral travelling? People other than Koetting himself say that it is indeed different.

2. Is it in anyway related to Eckankar and Shamanism? Searching the Internet about it only gave two sites that discusses about this method and http://www.eckankar.org is one of them.

3. Is his course good?

4. What did you learn from it that you didn't find anywhere else, if any?

5. Koetting says that it is better to learn soul travelling if I haven't astral travelled before; this will be good for the learning process. Is that true?

Thanks in advance.

...And a laughing stock elsewhere too. Don't buy anything from him.

I've tried to answer your questions anyway, as best I can for now.

1. Is it really different from astral travelling? People other than Koetting himself say that it is indeed different.

That depends on the belief set you hold. How you define soul/ spirit/ body/ mind and so forth. Ideas regarding planes of existence and consciousness vary according to different paradigms, yes. Etheric plane travel and Astral travel are seen as different areas of experience in some paths and not so much in others.

2. Is it in anyway related to Eckankar and Shamanism? Searching the Internet about it only gave two sites that discusses about this method and http://www.eckankar.org is one of them.

I got a lot of hits on a search, but most of what I've looked at so far is very New Agey. Eckanar is a Christian site, so has nothing to do with Shamanism, it's a tithed 'church' online, basically.

3. Is his course good?

His products have been heavily criticised by many unsatisfied customers. It seems he is a charlatan, I'm afraid, sorry.

4. What did you learn from it that you didn't find anywhere else, if any?

I doubt you'll find much positive response, though he does have followers. I think there may still be a forum online that deals with his work, you might be best asking there?

5. Koetting says that it is better to learn soul travelling if I haven't astral travelled before; this will be good for the learning process. Is that true?

Don't take anything he says to heart, without thoroughly checking him out first and look for further commentary by those who've used his products too.
I found this site, it looks a bit 'love and light' to my eyes, but it's not asking for any money or joining fees and has a lot of information on it. It might be useful to look at, not sure, but here it is anyway...

http://www.spiritualtravel.org/spiritualtravel.html

You might be better to check out terms and concepts that relate to the subject, which could lead you to more useful information:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astral_projection
Astral projection/ astral travel/ out-of-body experience (OBE)/ astral body" / astral plane/ consciousness/ soul journey/ ascent/ spiritual traveller/ subtle body/ higher realms/ meditation/ perceptions/ self hypnosis/ manifestation/body of light/ rational soul/ planes of existence/ neo-platonism/ microcosm/ macrocosm/ material universe/ plane of manifestation/ causal/ acausal/ emanationism/concentric circles/ Eliphas Levi/ Theosophy/ esoteric...
All terms relative to this subject, from the wikipedia article. I only copied the first lot, there are tons more there from other traditions.

My point is that it's tough to know what is right or wrong when you are looking from a beginner's viewpoint and Koetting certainly talks in jargony terms, so gives off an appearance of understanding to some folk, but that dosen't mean he is knowledgeable and he charges a pretty penny for advice that is freely available elsewhere.

Caveat emptor applies.

Well, Eckankar's site isn't the only site though. There is another similar site www.msia.org. Both sites say that spiritual travelling concerns itself with one's divine union with the Source. Of course, one will get varied opinions on who is the Source. One of the very basic exercises is singing 'Hu' and some visualisation. I have been doing it for a few days. Let's see how it goes.

I'm not sure about this, however, Bardon teaches Mental Wandering/traveling before the astral traveling. You should take a look at that. Maybe it is the same as this Soul Traveling. It should be in the step 5 or higher steps.

There are lots of other ways to learn and this above, as suggested by Rockdemon is one known and trusted methodology. Is that from Initiation into Hermetics, Rockdemon?

Be careful Napoli, some folk offer short cuts for a price, but they are usually scams of one sort or another.

Yes, it is from IIH. I am on step 2 so you know I am not sure what concept stands for what in a practical way.

Koeting has gotten a bad reputation for talking about how he murdered people with his curses and demon summoning.
As far as his business ethics I've haven't heard anything really bad, I don't know of any cases where he as openly scammed people. They get what they pay for.

He also managed to get himself in trouble, when the cops arrested him with meth and illegal firearms. And there has been a rumor that he has also been arrested for beating his ex-wife, but I don't know if that is true or not.

There seems to be a lot of negativity surrounding this man.

I was watching some of his videos a while back and he has one sitting by a creek, talking about the police situation and how much he loves the wilderness in Utah. Whether or not he likes the natural beauty out there I think he's as culturally out of place as the Utah Jazz. I don't know how ubiquitous the experience Teal Swan had of the state is but it sounds like the Mormon's there have enough intensity to cover three bible-belt states for zeal.

To be honest I have never purchased anything from him, nor intend to since I can get his stuff cheaper elsewhere. But his Soul Travel course had attracted my attention. But I must admit I learned many things by reading his newsletters and watching his videos. Sometimes they answered questions that I couldn't find elsewhere and never expected to. Of course, there are many people who does not like the way he works. A site called 'Church of Ahriman' highly criticised his method of summoning Azi Dahaka. I hate his marketing technique. So, I have mixed opinions about him.

I can't speak for all of his work, but I read his book about Vodou (The Spider and the Green Butterfly) and was kind of horrified. He mislabeled most of the Lwa and Orixa, insinuated that they were all evil spooky African demons (which is untrue and borderline racist) and his methods of working with them were very disrespectful and likely to get practitioners in huge trouble if they followed his rituals. I don't believe he is an initiated Vodou priest in any legitimate house, and his need to claim he's mastered every magical system means he perpetuates a dangerous mix of useful information lifted from other sources and riddled with inaccuracies. And I believe spiritual teachers should be compensated for their work, but this whole "I will teach you 100% guaranteed evocation of any demon for 3 easy payments of $859.99!" is pure flimflam. He is taking advantage of people who are too lazy to do the research and put in the work themselves and think magic is something they can buy in a neat package "guaranteed." You can learn to do everything he teaches on your own with better results without paying his ridiculous fees.

Napoli wrote:Reading about his life story in an interview I came to the conclusion that he can't possibly learn about so many traditions within this short amount of time so deeply. He claims that he learned many spiritual things from an Indian guru called Baba Maharaja. I don't know if it's me but why would anyone call himself that? I never heard of anything like this about any genuine guru. This entirely my opinion but if anyone is so spiritually evolved as he claims he is then one wouldn't resort to the hustler techniques he uses to market his courses; or maybe it is Timothy.
Ugh, yes, he should stick to shilling Western evocation magic because his lack of depth shows up everywhere else. I also read some weird thing he wrote about how to rape a Dakini(?!?) by having sex with a human woman while chanting basic Vedic bija mantras. He suckers in people who have little knowledge of the systems he's cribbing from and don't realize he's just throwing random "exotic" sounding mumbo-jumbo together. I actually do consider him gifted as a black magician based on his sheer success in peddling his nonsense and developing a following kinda like a LHP TV evangelist (although maybe that's redundant!) I'd just be surprised if any of his gifts benefit the people who send them their money.

All of this nonsense of running around in black, being evil and bad synth music is not the way to do it. People like Deepak chopra, Pat Robertson, dalai lama, oprah and others who makes millions selling "goodness" are the real black magicians.

That is odd, I wrote a response to you and it showed up as your post? I've never seen that happen before, I'll investigate and get back to you.
