Nah. The more I learn about something, the more I realize I don't know.

There was a study off professional musicians and they found that those who played at an expert level had about 10,000 hours of practice. That is 3 hours a day for 10 years.
I'm not there yet.

Des is an expert, yes. Not in a subject specifically, though. He's the librarian/curator of a huge collection of occult texts, so that makes him.. a.. librarian/curator of a huge collection of occult texts.

Theory smeory, Just because you can read a book doesn't mean your an expert.

And compared to real book experts my puny collection is pocket change.
The guy who runs the swedish UFO team has 22.000 books and probably 100.000 articles and magazines.

To be a librarian you actually need an education. Currently it's a minimum of 180 points at university level.

The minimum amount of books for a library is 10,000. Anything under that is just a collection. What I have is a hobby.

This is the research library that Manly P. Hall put together:

I think it is important that we keep things in perspective.
The internet is full of so called "experts" and the worst thing we as a forum can do; is start patting our self on the back and forget that we're all just amateurs searching for some answers on the internet.

I have professors ask me to come in and guest speak on the Left Hand Path tradition, so I probably am somewhere around "expert". I problem is I don't care about "expert" information like dates, I'm a student of the philosophy and practices.

yeah i mean really? if someone irl comes up to me asking about stuff like this i'll be able to give them a good enough answer. i believe most people who are regulars here each have their own "initiate's package" to give. it's not a bad thing to have.

It's extremely refreshing to see how many people here still retain some good humility and act as humble as they can be. Though, I did sort of wish that one or two people would go on to brag about their amazing exploits.

There comes a point where knowledge doesn't matter unless you're applying it. Everyone here is surely applying all that they know.

Between the lot of everyone here, I think we should be able to answer the question of any mystery offered to us.

Sometimes I just forget that not everyone knows the same things occult-practitioners know.
I have to catch myself a lot from telling people about the afterlife. They don't take kindly when the mystery is ruined for them.
