To make a long story short;

I was hiking my hunting spots and found an old mineshaft I have never noticed before. I went into it and found a wooden box that had symbols carved into it. Inside the box was a leather bound book. This book is very very dark. I'm not even superstitious that much and looking at the images (which are hand drawn and old) gives me the chills.

All of it is in Latin by the way. My girlfriend takes Latin in college and her professor translated about a page and he said it was in gore detail of slaughtering virgins to "feed the dark". I hid the book in a cave and it's quite a hike to it so nobody will find it. What the hell do I do with this book?

Oh by the way he said the book is easily over 100 years old.

The book is almost certainly modern made to look old.As human Immolation is not a praxis of genuine Grinoires and the Hollywood cliche of virgins being sacrificed is featured,my contention is that the book is a discarded film prop or custom made by one of the many personalised 'Grimoire' sellers online.

As Chowderpope suggests,please upload pics with detail of the symbols,binding and a transcript of the Latin text.We can then ascertain if it is worth investigating further.If so,I can forward the details to colleagues who specialise in analysis of Latin magical MSS. Failing this,take the book to your local University and you will probably get an immediate decision as to its authenticity.

As the admin here I'm not sure I want you having your phone number and email sitting out like this (I will temporarily remove it from your post until we can discuss it over PM), however I do live near you, assuming your area code is where you live. If you want to I could meet you at a public place and you can show it to me. Or if you don't want to touch it again, you can take me and a few friends up there with you and we can document it (I'd like to get pictures of the box and location), then verify if its just something someone made with no real knowledge of the occult, or something that should be kept out of other peoples hands. Either way as others pointed out, if it is something historical it should be available to everyone.
