Breakdown of the concept of Western Esotericism

Post by Desecrated »

Dan Attrell's latest talk deals with Francis Yates and her "great hermetic narrative" and also touches on Wouter J. Hanegraaff's concept of "Platonic Orientalism"".

I highly highly recommend that you listen to this one, because it clears up a lot of the myth and legends that are being taught in occultism today.

Looks really interesting - I'll check these out. I've had a hard time finding good videos/podcasts on occultism and spirituality, it seems like they're almost all either super "love and light" types spouting new age maxims, or dry, droning armchair magicians rambling about Kabbalistic correspondences and Gemmatria and the refined scent of Aleister Crowley's farts :/
"The path of the Sage is called
'The Path of Illumination'
he who gives himself to this path
is like a block of wood
that gives itself to the chisel-
cut by cut it is honed to perfection"

- DDJ, Verse 27

"It's still magic even if you know how it's done." - Terry Pratchett
