Twitter Phenomenon: Summoning Charlie

Post by Sypheara »

Something of interest that is hitting the mainstream news..

Alot of Twitter kids trying to summon a 'Mexican' demon called Charlie to give them answers on various inane pop culture issues etc using homemade Ouija esque board.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/article/3 ... -to-demons

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/weird ... 76557.html

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/weird-news ... ng-5763759

Thought that this would be relevent here. Thoughts? My own are that its people just doing it because, 'ghosts r phun rite lolz'. Not sure its the best of ideas?

Sorry if I was late with this, couldnt see anything else on the forums about it.

You posted this twice (probably a lag glitch on your end), I deleted the duplicate thread.

Is Charlie a native mexican name?

lmao.

This could have some very interesting results.

Reminds me of Ghost in the Shell.

Most notably the stand alone complex.

Yeah is a pretty silly name, don't know the origins at all. I see what you mean about Ghost in the Shell, definitely could hold true here.

And thanks Stukov, think it was. I double checked, but couldn't see a second thread when i refreshed. This forum does all kinds of weird stuff sometimes!

Ghost has way too many plotlines for me to know the one you're talking about right now. I probably should rewatch Standalone Complex, it's been too long.
A lot of things could potentially go wrong, and a lot of things could go right. I guess we just have to wait and see if anyone dies.
They're most likely not getting the entity they want, that's for sure.

I believe this started out as a 'serious' thread.. but you see where it is going.

To remain somewhat on topic, no new news from this that i can see yet, although a small proportion people have been reporting your usual poltergeisty kind of phenomena occurring after the event. Need to get time to do some digging.

Ohh, sorry I didn't want to hijack the thread or go off-topic!

Well, many occultists say that if a lot of people believe in something, that will eventually create that "something".

Poltergeisty phenomena? Of course!
They probably weakened the "veil" between normal reality and the aetheric plane (spirit world, Shadow, whatever).

I hope they'll use this whole summoning for something... productive.

We laugh but I must say I am interested what consecuences will leave this situation.

Some of this people will harm themselves or others(and I mean not only spiritual harm).

Yes i believe to its possible other ghosts will jump at the chance to interact. This will likely lead to some interesting occurrences. AS maya says though i think most people are just playing with it.. not trying to be productive with it.

And sorry, i didnt make myself clear - i meant the thread I linked not this one :) As you can see people start off giving good advice.. then they realise haha.

I don't know if the ''Charlie'' they are trying to communicate with ever thread the Earth, it's an urban legend but if we believe in occult phenomena, they are maybe actually creating an Egregor. Hence the strange happenings some have reported. Or they are moving the pencil with a faculty of their minds which of course they do not suspect. Mind over matter, that is.

Its not occult dude. If you really believe in anything too much, you will be programming your mind and it will be real to you while its just a delusion but nothing more....
