Any clues on who/what this being is?

Post by ShadowFire »

There's a being that's connected to absolute darkness. Not shadow. (No I'm not interested in getting into a discussion about shadow versus darkness). The darkness is truly absolute, it consumes everything. Life essence, light, everything.

I'm not worried about that part, I want to figure who/what this being is:
He's skeletally thin. He wears a bone mask - full face-covering, simple design, white, eye holes but no mouth hole. He also wears a wide-brimmed hat. He controls this absolute darkness, and he loves playing games. Not fun games like catch, more playing a game of chess where consuming the entire plan with this darkness is his goal.

Anyone know anything?

To the mods - sorry if this is the wrong section for this, I had no clue where to put it.

One way Crnobog may appear...

Look where you live and understand , some of these gods
are tied to the land by blood relation , over aeons... [thumbup]

I'm no longer in Prague, I just haven't updated my bio :) Thanks for the thought and reply though.

Right , gotcha...

Where you born in Prague , though ?

And even still , Crnobog is considered the Lord of Darkness ,
and one of the oldest , yet little is known about him , deities...

I know more than most...let's just say that...

I am of the Old Wietchcrreayafth , Faery Tradition , and Cult of the Dead
traditions , among others...very ancient , and he was a great god then...

Across more than the Slavic peoples...

Nope. I'm an expat, I lived in Prague for a few years but England is where I was born and raised. I'm tied to the Celtic and Norse traditions, and I didn't recognise him as connected to either of those pantheons.

Not by what I call modern traditions , true...

However , my Tradition goes back to :

https://mathildasanthropologyblog.wordp ... ekli-tepe/

And the old , long disputed Witch Cults...

We don't have to argue with the scientists...we know the old magic...

The Black God , or Dark God , has existed since the beginning...

Just like our Tradition , long before even this temple site...

Even Odin , in the Norse , had a Dark Aspect , in what we call modern times... [wink]

I propose a thought.
He controls this absolute darkness
In it's entirety? Or just what we can perceive?

Illusions are a good way of maintain a presence. I had a thought at the beginning of the original post, but after reading through I don't think it would be related. I don't think an answer is to be found in mythology.

Myths often are truth as a cloak over the figure beneath...

And can put you in the current of thought , to *see*

The darkness was a specific type of darkness. Not shadow, not our perception of darkness, it was a thing unto itself.

I don't think the answer is in mythology either, it didn't feel like a god/deity. I suppose I just hoped given the people that drop in here, someone would know something. :)

My PMs are open if you wanted to share your original thought in private.

Many things exist within the infinite expanse.

However, I was commenting on his apparent control over this. When you mentioned that he controlled this absolute dark. The phrasing made it sound as if he were a lord over it's entirety. I simply proposed that such a concept could merely be an illusion. As control in of itself is. However if this was not the intended expression of thought, do forgive me.

Ah I see what you mean now. My subconscious described him as the heart of the darkness, the powerhouse, rather than the lord or master. He controls it in the same way a pyromancer controls fire - the pyro doesn't control every flame in existence. Does that make more sense?

Aside from all the spooky fear mongering that a lot of people put on darkness... absolute void is actually a truly excellent mirror, reflecting the formless self.
no idea if this is in any way helpful to your query though.

In my experience, among entities, ones which possess an object (like his bone mask) are often tied to other entities which gave them the object, or have some deep history related to it. Many humans out of body will fixate on the idea of manifesting objects, but this is a habit born of being a tool-using physical being. There's no reason astrally that you can't manifest self as tool, like inspector gadget finger screwdriver... but more spiritually themed. So for a disembodied entity to cling to possession of an object, it often has deeper meaning. It also suggests that the entity is at least mid-grade in terms of sentience.

I'm perfectly at home in the shadow and the absolute darkness :)

I hadn't thought about this entity in a month or so, but I happened to pop back here today. I don't know why I didn't focus more on the mask at the time, I have a weird history with masks. I'll give that some thought, thanks :)
