Motumbá Àse
Here I share a little text about an Oriṣa (Orisha in english, Orichá in spanish and Orixá in portuguese) that is not well understood, because He's not just quit an Oriṣa, He is actually a Vodun. He's known in Haitian Vodou as Damballah and the other serpent deities like Simbi, Ayida Wedo, etc. He's the Sacred Rainbow, deity of transformation, abundance, generation, longevity, etc.
He is Olokun's personal Babalawo according to an Ita of Ifa. Deity owner of clairvoyance and mysticism.
Here goes the text [wink]
ÒṢÙMÀRÈ, The transformer.
The enchanted divinity that colours the sky with a rainbow. Who makes from the rain, renovation. A serpent that expands through the horizon showing infinite possibilities.
Ṣàpọ̀nà took Savalu and expeld Boku. With that lots of Dan priests from those Fon lands run to the yoruban city of Ọ̀yọ́ to find refuge. There, Dan transforms into Òṣùmàrè. Since that happens the cobra transforms taking with Him the riches of its culture.
Òṣùmàrè it's the lines of colours that paints the rainy firmament, filling everyone that sees it with happiness and surprise. Shines, enchants, brings hope. Òṣùmàrè renovates, moves, awakens to the new.
Òṣùmàrè unites the sky with the earth in one single bow. The Royal Python is Father and Mother, which is god and enchantment. The “Gbèsèn” (“The worshiped Vital Principle”).
The snake that fascinates, that closes Itself in a circle and shows te eternal. The snake that shows the path and brings followers, It showed Tàlábí his purpose and then he foundates the House of Osùmàrè (Casa de Òṣùmàrè) in the other side of the Atlantic sea. The cobra that streches Itself through the sky, expanded Itself in the Earth too. Òṣùmàrè gains His kingdom in Bahia.

Thank you WDW as usual! I have a strong affinity for the snake deities, simbi, naga, and undine all over the universe. Great post

It is a very nice post indeed! Beautiful!
I even pondered the idea recently that Snakes could also be a
reflection of Primordial Waveforms. You know, the analogy being between
slithering Snakes and propagating waves.
A truly powerful and ancient symbol!
Peace Sister!

You got the two Snake symbols pointing up to the Rainbow. The Seven Spectral
colors. Seven Snakes/Waveforms. One is a slithering Waveform that propagates
at the Speed of light, Energetic. The other is a reflection of that residing in the
Kingdom. Propagating over the ground in a similar manner.
This goes back to the beginning of Time. A reflection echoed over the eons. The
reflection evident in all four elements to varying degrees. The Snake...percussive,
and energetic in the Air. Propagating Ocean waves, or ripples(although different but similar),
Fire can be wave like at times, and the smokey by product displaying Wave patterns. And
last but not least, in Earth you have the Slithering Snake!
Another display of the reflective nature of the Micro and Macrocosms. From Primordial origins
(even Logos). The propagating Energy before Matter. Up through the eons of Cosmic anabolism
to the Present...
THE SNAKE!

And that name, The Transformer! The Wave/Snake. The transformation
of wave like Energy into color based on frequency. Or percussive waves to
audio articulation. A main component of interaction via energy for the Sentient
being in the Material.
The Transformer...from invisible wave like energy to visual and audio manifestations.
The ongoing process of Transformation of Nothing into Something, right up to the illusion
of the dense material world via these Snake like Energetic Wave Forms.
A Magickal Transformation indeed!
