Dear OF,
Where do I find good scripts of invocations of various gods and angels?
I played around with evocation for months, and now I feel it's time to invoke. Experimenting ad lib seems to have an interesting effect - but obviously "ready made" scripts designed by experienced magicians can add many interesting complexities.
First, I'm searching for invokations of the various arch angels. The elemental ones and the sephirothic ones, such as, Michael, Haniel, Kamael, Tzadkiel etc. Second, I want to invoke Horus, Apollo and Aphrodite (her Pornê aspect). Third, various jewish god forms, such as Elohim Geburh.
Then possibly I might move on to Dionysus and Priapus but they might be demonic in nature so perhaps invocation is not recommended?
Any ideas where I can find such scripts in books or PDF or websites? I've been looking on the web but I haven't found what I'm looking for.
Thanks

The Hymns of Orpheus is an excellent source for invocations of the Greek Gods.

Thank you Philalethes,
Those were interesting. It seems they have the Roman gods, not the Greek ones, in most cases at least. I know the Greek and Roman gods are quite similar, but are they really identical? Is Venus exactly Aphrodite? I thought Venus was just a love goddess while Aphrodite was love+sex+ocean+mother goddess, but I'm no expert.
The format of these hymns are more like, well, hymns than actual "transform-me-temporarily-to-a-God" texts, such as the Bornless ritual. Any idea how to use the Hymns in a ritual to acheive the same effect?
I've found some really excellent invokations of Thoth and Horus in a few random Aleister Crowley libers that I came across. Does anyone know of other invocations written by him?
Thanks

There is an Invocation to Horus in the Thelema section of the Library. Venus is, IMO, The later therefore somewhat softened vision of Aphrodite. Aphrodite is a Goddess of sexual love, Physical love, Tangible feeling. whereas I see Venus and other Love Goddess' as incarnations of spiritual or emotional love. She is extrememly powerful. I would recommend for an Invocation of her that you literally "write her a poem" with the intention of wanting to seduce her. I should warn you that Aphrodite is very, very physical. Not to be taken lightly either as she has a temper that can turn rather quickly. She is, after all, passion incarnate. Hope this helps.

A Google search for such terms as "Invocation to Apollo" or "Hymn to Aphrodite" will yield great results. Don't forget to utilise those masters of invocation - poets!
Once you feel comfortable, I would suggest creating your own invocations. Of course, ad-lib invocations have their own power - "Invoking with a pure heart".
Formats such as those used for Liber Israfel can easily be adapted to other Gods - I've just utilised this to write an Invocation of Anpu/Anubis.

Invoking Priapus might just be darn embarassing and uncomfortable. You have heard of "priapism," I assume? Then possibly I might move on to Dionysus and Priapus
