Sigils & Keys

Would someone do me a favor and explain the difference between sigils and keys to me? I am not a ceremonial magician, though I can admit to having dabbled quite a bit in the area. References to keys and sigils seems to differ from grimoire to grimoire however, and I was curious as to what their technical definitions are.

A sigil can be a signature of a spirit. It can also be used as a symbol to convey complex or simple ideas in the form of a glyph, which can then be used to impress the idea upon the unconscious.
As far as "keys", what is this in reference to? Are you talking about the Enochian keys, the Greater and Lesser Keys of Solomon, something else, maybe? It would be easier to give an answer if you were more specific.

(I'm curious)

Just for sake of conversation, take Greater-n-Lesser keys for instance. . . .?
