Modern Magick Tarot Question

I was reading through the book and got to the part where he mentions using the tarot for readings on the outcome of you magick. I understand everything except when he says to place the cards, he doesn't say weither you get the cards from the top of the pile or the bottom of the pile. Which is it?

Also when you cut the deck into three piles do you start from the top or the bottom?

I don't think it really matters (top or bottom), but I would suggest that whichever orientation . . . stay consistant. Always (beginning) pick from one or the other.

Same with cutting the deck . . .
