Greetings from a Relative Neophyte

Post by Xion »

Hello all,

I am a longtime lurker on the original OF and here and abouts teh intarwebz. I registered here awhile back but only recently felt confident enough to post.
But I have decided to take the plunge as I want to at least have a foothold in the occult community since I feel isolation will only hurt myself in the long run
and the giving and exchanging of ideas can prove symbiotically beneficial to all of us. I have been interested in the occult from as far back as I remember and though
raised in a Roman Catholic household, a certain side of me always peered into that other side of life that was not a pure application of dogmatic faith and that which
attempted to shine light upon the mysteries of the world in a more pragmatic, experiential manner. Sadly I got my start through Mysticweb >_> after a "chance" finding
on astral projection on a paranormal forum back in the early 2000s. I eventually moved away from that cult and sought greater knowledge and found a community at Thelema
Press based upon Samael Aun Weor's teachings. Spent awhile there browsing, afraid to shed the husk of my Christian upbringing by clinging to aspects of Christian Occultism.
Well anyway after several years of growing up and stuff with that site, I made a decision and widened my perspective enormously and embraced what I always wanted to, my "darker side" if you
will, and for the first time in my life felt a genuine love of what I was involved in and turned completely towards every aspect of the occult imaginable from chaos magick,
ceremonial magick, shamanism, etc. from whatever source derived I will attempt to gain greater and greater knowledge. I hold no allegiance to any system or paradigm and go with what will
give me results and understanding...and perhaps, appealing to that darker side of humanity, even power.

Sorry to bore you to death with dregs of the past, currently I finally got through enough real life business in general to reevaluate my life and focus on my occult practices. Hence
why I post this before you now. I made an account on the original OF just before it went down. Though I still am filled with a deep, undying sadness over the loss of the greatest site I have
ever laid eyes upon (and still cannot fathom the logic to its demise), like a phoenix from the ashes I hope to contribute to this site and to help make it at the very least a major semblance of the
former OF. I am EXTREMELY grateful to the people who started this site as I thought the knowledge here was lost, which would have been a catastrophic loss for the occult community. But luckily, although
not all has been retained, most information has been preserved and hopefully it will never be gone again! So I want to personally thank those people who made this site possible. You are, in my opinion,
saviors of extremely high regard!!!! Thank you!

As someone present during the final death, logic had nothing to do with it, just trollishness. But a new superstition has arisen among the old guard: don't talk about the script-kiddy who did it, he might find the site again and trash it because immature fuckwits do that a lot...

But anyways, welcome to the forums, look around, post (oh, please post, I don't post new stuff myself because I have no questions, only updates from the deep end, thankfully not very often... ooh, must update, forgot to do that... but I do my best to answer questions), and tell us a little bit about your experiences. For example, am I to understand you currently practice a synthesis of several different schools of thought on the occult? if so, how do you feel things work better or worse for you, doing so?

Thanks for the hellos and don't worry, I intend to post. Maybe it will take a little while for me to pick up in activity, but the more I learn the more questions I'll have and the more comments to add.

I can't say I truly practice a synthesis, more along the lines of dabbling in a bit of each at the moment while focusing on the fundamentals (visualization, concentration, etc.). The focus is broad at the moment, but will narrow with time, especially as I improve with those fundamentals and continue to learn.

Hey there. As someone who occasionally posted on the original forums, glad to see more people returning. The original forums were a wealth of information and I hope these new ones shall be the same. Can't wait to see some more posts and commentaries.
