Getting "Too" Deep Into a Trance?

Post by Taiyounoryu »

I wondered if anyone else has issues with this. I can get incredible-y focused when in a trance, but it seems like I take in too much at a time. I can feel the energy within myself, the surroundings, people within my household, how do I turn this down a notch? While I'm thankful for being so sensitive, it makes it hard to focus on specific things sometimes. On top of that, all of it hitting me at once gives me nausea. Is this something I have to work past, or is there a way to tone everything down a little?

Firstly, it sounds a bit like you arent meditating while properly grounded. Take time to center yourself before you meditate - feel the floor under you, feel the weight of gravity pressing down on you and feel yourself become grounded into your body. Next, use a focus or focal point. This can be anything from music to a thing, like a stone or a feather - something you can hold in your hands or something you can direct your concious mind into. While you meditate, concentrate on your focus and use it to remain grounded, keeping all the other things that are overloading your senses at bay. Having just one thing to concentrate on makes things much easier, as you dont need to take in everything around you.

Hope this helps. [grin]

Well I usually try to ground myself nightly, so I'm not sure what's causing it. Dont get me wrong, its better once I get grounded, but there are still nights here and there where I can't do too much before feeling sick lol.
I haven't thought of using something other than myself to focus on, usually I just try to get a sense of the energy within myself. I'll have to try it, thanks (: Seems like you always have something good to contribute!

I can think of two things which I hope helps. The first is that eating can also ground you. Heavier foods will ground you more, but this is rather effective and might hinder meditation altogether. The second thing, more of a speculation, is that if you take the time (years maybe) to get good at meditating ungrounded, your focus would get used to it and you'll be able to narrow at will.

You can also use a gem stone like aimatite or the one you prefer...hold it in your hand for a while after you clean it properly with sea salt and pass it over a charcoal of burning sage.

Hum there are different types.

Contemplative- focusing on a question hoping to get some sort of metaphysical answer, or quieting the "id" in order to find out the truly best answer you already know are correct.

Spiritual- To say hi [yay]. This is usually done to remind us that we are spiritual beings and not alone in our lives. Forces beyond our knowledge are at work with or against each other (I believe) and hopefully ignore the negative and praise the positive in order to strengthen the positive.

Purification- We did something wrong or someone has done something wrong to us or someone we care about is doing something wrong. Since the world doesnt stop moving we try to meditate to get past it and move on unencumbered or to fix the bad situation.

There are probably many more, but each of these have a very different feel and different effects to the body. One unfortunate one to purification trance can be nausea (I've vomited before from it [just wanted to put tmi in there]). This happens because we hit a wall in our purification process (and you would definitely hit one if accidentally doing this).

Contemplative focuses around a question, spiritual focuses around your spiritual surroundings, purification focuses around an event. It seems like an event or something is in one of you levels of consciousness might be blocking you from a successful trace and should be rectified and remember you may need to purify yourself from something someone else did which is usually overlooked.
