Warning, this method is a bit morally questionable. We're still working out the details.
Of course my research partner Ian and I have been working on immortality as one of our top goals. And we believe we may have found a method that's, if not practical, at least functional. It combines two techniques, referred to as "jumping" and "switching," with the goal of allowing the person to body-hop, the idea of course being that they won't die as long as their current "host" doesn't. I'm presenting this here so that those of you who've put more thought into this can warn us before we do something VERY regrettable.
1) SWITCHING
Switching is a practice in which a person disconnects from their body and becomes a thoughtform residing in their own mind (thoughtforms are things like tulpas, daemons, soulbonds, etc). The world inside their mind ("mindscape") becomes as real to them as the physical world, and they must make an active effort to become aware of what their body is experiencing. If they have another thoughtform, that thoughtform can take the "active slot" of the mind and control the body in their stead, hence the name "switching." This isn't required, but if it isn't done the body will be left lying there empty, so it should be kept in a safe place. I should mention that switching is very, VERY difficult to learn. The most common method that I've heard of requires learning to cut off all your senses at will and force yourself to experience mindscape senses instead.
2) JUMPING
We recently discovered that thoughtforms are capable of "jumping" between host minds. The obvious significance of this is that due to their incorporeal nature, thoughtforms can live forever as long as their host mind is in good condition. We have heard an account of a thoughtform being passed down a family through generations in this way. Thus, is can be concluded that a switched human could jump to a new body when theirs is close to death and continue indefinitely as well. And no, there would be no need to worry about staying a thoughtform forever, as control of the new body can be gained through possession or even another switch. There are some road-bumps at this stage though:
A) All memory about yourself is lost except for what the new host knows about you. Only personality is retained consistently.
B) You can only jump to minds that have or had a thoughtform already. Those that haven't aren't properly equipped to house fully developed thoughtforms.
C) Some people are more sensitive to jumping than others. Most are difficult to enter if they aren't actively expecting you.
Fortunately, all three can be overcome with practice, and we have indeed personally seen instances of all three being overcome. We are very close to performing this method ourselves. My partner has learned to switch consistently and has been practicing jumping to me. Thus far he has been having trouble entering my mind fully, despite my being highly sensitive to jumping (thoughtforms can enter me without me even expecting them). However, he has gotten quite close, and we are making progress.
So the obvious moral and practical issues are with what to do with the new host. The best bet may be to continually find younger friends who are willing to volunteer, but good luck doing that indefinitely, and what if they want to come too next time you need to jump? And of course you'll be stuck sharing a body, which is awkward but doable with a friend (assuming you don't have VASTLY different tastes or ideals and rarely fight), but if you were stuck hijacking someone, your choices are either try to negotiate (and hope they don't think they're going crazy) or forcibly take over their body and by extension their life...
Anyway, please let me know if you have any questions, comments, concerns, or just feel like calling us mad. [crazy] We'll of course post here if we have any breakthroughs!

Re: The Switching and Jumping Method (AKA Body-Hopping)
There is some hard-core occult science-fiction [crazy]
On the theoretical level, this seems like it can work. But what repercussions can be there? Except losing your memory and retaining your personality. [crazy]
Can another person be stuck in someone's "head" during the experimentation with jumping? How would it be to live there for some time? [grin]
There is possibility of making a flesh body even today, do you think it can become common practice in the future?

Re: The Switching and Jumping Method (AKA Body-Hopping)
I mentioned in another thread something similar which Carroll wrote in one of his books. As I am lazy I will simply quote myself (what an honor):
Ramscha wrote:Carroll wrote in his Book Liber Null & Psychonaut three different rites of which he claims that they would make reincarnation of a master possible.
I will now quote what he wrote about reincarnation of a master of the occult arts:Now to my personal position about his statements:REINCARNATION
Integral reincarnation is the final metamorphosis. It is the supreme
ritual of sex and death by which adepts attain to the degree
of master.
In the ordinary course of events, the personal aether and life
force of Kia disintegrate as the material body disintegrates. New
beings are built up from the pool of the universal life force in the
same way that they are built up from the universal pool of matter.
The personal life force then finds its way back into incarnation
broken up into millions of parts scattered into many beings.
The adept magician however will have so strengthened his
spirit by magic that it is possible for him to carry it over whole into
a new body. In an exceptional display of power it may even be
possible to retain specific memories in aether form. It is by such a
process that adepts achieve the final degree of mastership. The
supreme rituals of sex and death exist in three forms: the Red,
Black, and White Rites.
The Red Rite
This rite can only be performed by male adepts and is performed
when the adept's body has become very aged or damaged. The
adept takes a young, strong female and forms a powerful love bond
to her. He impregnates her and then during the early stages of the
pregnancy, within the first two months, he voluntarily ends his
present existence. The powers of the adept developed in astral
travel workings, coupled with the effects of the love bond to the
mother, cause a reincarnation into the developing fetus. Provision
is beforehand made for the security of the female and the reeducation
of the reincarnating master.
The Black Rite
This rite consists of the forceful entry of a spirit into the body of an
already inhabited being. It is both dangerous and unreliable and
used only in certain peculiar and desperate situations. It will
sometimes result in there being a double life force in one body, if
the invading spirit fails to displace the occupant. In this case the
victim will seem to have gone mad. In any case the memory of
the taken-over being remains, and the invading-being will have
to work through this. Of this rite I have been advised to say no
more. . . .
The White Rite
In this rite an integral reincarnation is achieved, but the receiving
body is a fetus randomly selected by the escaping spirit in astral
flight. In the event that one's friends, followers, and disciples
might be unable to locate one's new manifestation and ensure that
it receives a proper magical education, it may be wise to carry an
aetheric marker. At death some sigil emblematic of one's magical
aspiration is fiercely visualized. It may later be apparent to clairvoyant
perception in the aetheric constitution of the developing
infant, or it may serve to cause some recognition or affinity with
the symbol if it is perchance accidentally stumbled upon in the
new existence.
I cannot say if his claims are correct or not as I have not performed either one of those 3 nor have I met or heard of anyone who did and was successful.
I can only say that I am sceptical about the way he describes it and how it shoudl work but maybe this is only because I don't believe in the way he sees possible reincarnation of a developed spirit. But my believes and knowledge are not of question here so I will leave it with this quote.

Re: The Switching and Jumping Method (AKA Body-Hopping)
Sorry for the silence, I'm staying with my parents for Thanksgiving week and they're not particularly supportive of my "unusual interests." [bummed]
I'm glad you're not seeing any flaws on the surface level. As for additional repercussions, that depends largely on the host. For obvious reasons, you'll be at their mercy. It takes a lot of training to reach a point where you can resist their will, and even more if you want to, say, perform forced possession or switching. It's certainly possible (I've seen thoughtforms put up a heck of a fight against their hosts and WIN), but it's obviously not ideal. Hence the recommendation that you either spend a LOT of time training before jumping or you go to a friend you know you'll be willing to possibly spend eternity with. Preferably one you won't learn to hate after years of being with them 24/7, possibly while being forced to experience everything they do and know everything they know.
I'd be interested to know if it's possible to jump to an "empty" mind. The description of jumping according to thoughtforms we've interviewed describes the "void between minds" as a dark blue void like outer space where the "stars" are minds, and the mind that's searching for you is the brightest. I wouldn't be surprised if an empty mind didn't "shine" and was thus impossible to find, but that's just speculation. Anyway, if it IS possible, this could nicely get around any moral and practical issues. [thumbup] I could easily see this becoming increasingly common practice as the technology is developed and made cheaper/more refined. Of course, as stated before, switching is no easy feat and memory loss would be a huge issue when entering an empty mind, so until those practices are refined to the point where they can be easily taught, it would be up to the individual to put in the necessary practice before performing the body-hop.
If it doesn't work out, maybe I could write a book. [wink]EternalReturn wrote:There is some hard-core occult science-fiction [crazy]

So basically what I'm describing is similar to the "dangerous and unreliable" black rite. Lovely. As I said, the morality of this technique is questionable at best, but the before mentioned flesh bodies could certainly prove useful for getting around that. As for the other two rites, I'm pretty sure jumping into a fetus is out of the question for multiple reasons...Ramscha wrote:I mentioned in another thread something similar which Carroll wrote in one of his books. Re: The Switching and Jumping Method (AKA Body-Hopping)
I remember for a fact that in our tradition there is something similar. It involves using very old, and dark magickal currents and is highly malefic in nature. It is certainly possible, but its not to do with thoughtforms in our tradition.
Its literally ripping someones soul from their body, and then forcibly inhabiting their shell. It is associated with the ancients and their abuse of power, so I can see it having a very degrading effect on ones own soul and path. From what i remember, downsides were very severe even if correctly performed. Loss of memory, confusion, co mingling with the target etc.
Since i've not performed it nor know any details, that is all i can offer unless i go away and do some hardcore research.

Re: The Switching and Jumping Method (AKA Body-Hopping)
In his book Immortality, Draja Mickaharic relates the stories of people who lived a long time by body-jumping. He even outlines a training program. The method as he understands it has nothing to do with thoughtforms, though. In Tibetan yoga, the practice is called Trong-jug. The movie The Skeleton Key with Kate Hudson was about two people who practiced body-jumping.
