Yes, there is that also. After UFO movies started coming out, UFO sightings exploded.

But shadow people is a very common phenomena, and now people are putting a name to it and actually paying attention to it.
Most adults 20 years ago would not talk about seeing shadows when asleep, nor would they take notice of it either.
