Found this in a book of commentaries on the Art of War.
Quote from: The Book of Master Mo, Chapter 17, "Against Offensive War"
Murdering one man is considered wrong and is punished with the death penalty. According to this argument, murdering ten men should be ten times more wrong and receive ten death penalties. And likewise with murdering a hundred men. The gentlemen of the world know these acts to be wrong. But the great wrong of attacking a state, that they do not find wrong but praise it and call it right. They are not even aware that it is wrong.

The game of life does not evolve like a mathematical calculation, on the principal that two and two equal four. Sometimes they equal five, or minus three. And sometimes the black board topples down in the middle of the sum, leaving the classroom in disorder and the pedagogue with a black eye.
Winston Churchill.
How old would you be, if you didn't know how old you are?
Scottish wisdom.
A fellow walked up and said, "I'll tell you the absolute truth. I'm a liar."
Unknown wag.

Don't be afraid that your life will end, be afraid that it will never begin. ~ Norman Cousins
We are so accustomed to disguise ourselves to others that in the end we become disguised to ourselves. ~ Francois de La Rochefoucauld
Death is not the greatest loss in life. The greatest loss is what dies inside us while we live. ~ Norman Cousins
As soon as you trust yourself, you will know how to live. ~ Richard Wagner
We all chose what we wish to be. The same wind that blows a ship on the rocks could blow it into safe harbor. It is not the wind, it is the set of the sail. ~ Taylor Caldwell

And when they nail my pimpled ass to the cross
Ill tell them I found jesus that should throw them off
He goes by the name jesus and steals hubcaps from cars
Oh jesus can I borrow your crowbar?
To pry these God damn nails out they're beginning to hurt
Crucified and all I got was this lousy t-shirt
I cant believe its not butter! Ill sing as I'm flogged
Yeah thats what I would do if I were god
So vote for me for savior and youll go to heaven
Your lame duck lord is like Kevin Spacey in seven
With creepy threats of h-e-double-hockey-sticks
You just cant teach an old God new tricks
But would I be a good messiah with my low self-esteem?
If I dont believe in myself would that be blasphemy?
Just sport some crummy holier than thou facade
Yeah thats what I would do if I were god

A number of quotes taken from about 1 - 1/2 chapters of a book... They are not all necessarily "spiritual" (ie: "mystical and poetic"), however they are quite worthwhile, regardless.

The individualist will to power leads to division. The universalist will to unity shows the value and viability of our individualism
Life need not be a struggle. Struggle may be a factor of development for lower forms of life. At higher stages of development, however, struggle is irrational. Even competition − a sublimation of the urge to struggle − has been superseded by co-operation. Conflict cannot possibly be connected with culture. Where there is struggle, culture is absent; the technological advances may be however great. Reason finally learns to recognize that the law of the jungle, the war of all against all, belongs in the jungle
The purpose of religion is to lighten the burdens of life, not to make them heavier. The purpose of religion is to ennoble man and thereby to afford him joy, peace, and harmony. The purpose of religion is not to issue commands or prohibitions, but to ennoble and strengthen feelings so as to make all commands superfluous. The purpose of religion is not to mitigate the wrath of any cosmic being, but to unite us with our fellow men in a brotherly bond. The purpose of religion is, therefore, to ennoble our feelings, to preach brotherhood, and to
practise service.
The fact that religion can do without dogmas is proved by Buddhism, whose tolerance is a consequence of this. A Buddhist â??synodâ?Â
