Shamans vs Shamanists

Post by Occult Forum Archive »

Ok, a shamanist is someone who practices techniques based more or less off shamanic ones, but doesnt acknowledge that they are not, in fact, genuine shamanic techniques.
Thank you for the information. What determine if a technique is genuinely shamanistic?

Shamans vs Shamanists

Post by Shaam »

This is a loaded question and subject and hits sore spots with a lot of people following shamanic paths.

A lot is called 'shaman' which is not. Many things within the typical shamanic path..are also found in other paths as well. Just because they are...is not a reason to label them shamanic.

Shamanism is basically a spirituality with a common core. Those of us who do not have a geneological or initiatory commonality with Native American Spirituality....follow various other shamanic type paths. I call mine Core...because of the indigenous values..which are common worldwide. I do not agree with some of the neo or modern shamanism categories...I believe they are something else...but do not follow this path. It is true that we walk between worlds...and that we need to bridge those worlds to help our people in these modern times....but our core values need to remain the same.
Life is an Adventure, there's something new around every corner.
