Well, what would be your personal thoughts then since you don't know the origins or studies of those that do practice these various color magicks? What would you define them as being?

my personal thoughts?

...i define them as being constructs of people who need something more to verify their beliefs than one simple term...the origins are rather contemporary in thought...when magick and witchery was just breaking light in the world of acceptable beliefs there was the traditional black/evil and white/good witch...contemporary witches have added their own spin onto the colors...ask a contemporary practioner...

you're the proponent of colors, how do you use them to define various magicks?

I propsed a question. I am not a practitioner of solor magick. Magick has no color; only intent and the will of the one weilding it. I was asking for personal knowledge or origin of the terms of colors used in witchcraft. Dark is not a color. :-P

To answer your question Scarletess, I never, in earnest, would put a colour, or shade, to magic, it causes too much confusion. I practice natural magic, and what some people have termed 'green witchcraft', the practice of working with the forces of nature. The term is there, simply to give a flavour, to put a word to that which cannot be so simply defined.

I would still very much appreciate your own definition of the term 'dark' though....

Off-topic:

Well, lets see I remember a book that discussed color distinctions of lodges or Orders, also wasn't Crowley discussing something about three schools of magick in his book "Magick without Tears."

He put these three schools in colors, one was yellow, and the others were white and black...

I also remember reading a book called "Real Magick" but I forget the author well the author placed it under yellow magick or ritual magick, and then I remember reading from somewhere that the grimoire called "The Black Pullet" was considered red magick.

Dark arts practictioner, dark witch, pratcie of things that maybe considered taboo, evil, wrong, occult (hidden and concealed). (Remember these words are very subjective, so you could use them in a very negative manner; which I don't do in my case). Work with darker dieties, spirits, sometimes called diamones/ demons. It is the nature of what is inside me and can't be denied. I work with all types of magick that suit my needs. I do realise that there is no dark without light or light without dark in my balance of workings. Many of us use to be called devil worshipers in ancient times, but I hope we have all evolved from that. Well, that is all I can pretty much say on that question.
