I am sorry if I upset you, m1thr0s. I thought we were discussing people already in debt and had not based my responses on those who can't get credit. I can see how that would be a problem. My suggestion was for the vast majority of people in the United States who are, as previously noted, very much in debt.

Doesn't everyone read about bankruptcy law for fun? :rolleyes:Btw, Maranatha, I could be wrong, but I have a strong suspicion that you learned all of these supposed facts from a textbook.

What I believe is that people are going to have to begin networking with each other more deliberately than they are accustomed to doing, creating little pockets of coordinated resistance everywhere. How that networking takes place depends. We're doing some of it right here and right now on these boards. Sometimes it's enough just to share insights and informations, ideas and inspirations etc. Better still is when people can actually build something together I think...something that benefits them all... I'm always sort of on the lookout for that personally...Satanists, at least, are accustomed to thinking they only need themselves and in some ways...along certain lines...this is certainly true. But when you are being attacked on all sides by an army of one kind or another, it often pays to have clan in there with you. The whole economic onslaught we are seeing occuring all over the place is a calculated attack and there is nothing they like better than to catch their prey isolated and vulnerable...like so many dogs on a trapped tiger...
I don't expect this to get sorted out overnight, but it's something we all need to be keeping on the back burner I think...maybe even the front burner...so I'm pretty serious about Satan's Island...though it may have to be covert, rather than literal...and I envision that many loosely-knit islands...or an island "chain" is better than one big island also...
But I sense that this is all too "heady" to connect entirely and that's a problem that has to be factored in as well...it needs to be sort of simple somehow to really catch on...right at this moment I am sort of thinking that business covens of sorts is the way to go...I have to work on the details more but my sense is that occultists in particular really need maximum freedom of motion at all times, so if they are going to work effectively in groups, the groups need to be small and based largely on motivated self-interest...I'll leave this here for now and see if anyone has any interest in that idea or not...either way, it's on my mind a lot these days...

You don't know me as well as most do here Maranatha. I guarantee you, you'll know when you've upset me. As it happens I would simply prefer that this thread get back on track to where it started as this is a more productive conversation. For your information, Chapters 11, 7, 13 etc do NOT exempt people from some of the most common debt issues faced, ie, student loans for instance which is a HUGE racket in this country. It can be useful in some instances but hardly solves all credit problems, which is one of the reasons that credit assistance programs almost always advise against it.I am sorry if I upset you, m1thr0s. I thought we were discussing people already in debt and had not based my responses on those who can't get credit. I can see how that would be a problem.

I actually don't think so...it was a makeshift set of guidelines to begin with and, really, we sort of intuitively know all of that already. I've been looking a lot at intentional communities as a possible guide to viable subculture and it isn't easy because so many of them fail but the ones that seem to survive the best are the ones that start out with a fairly clearly defined guidelines along the lines of their own constitution, bill of rights and so on...One could build an entire community around Aleister Crowley's Liber Oz, for instance...not that I'm suggesting that exactly but it's a reasonable example of what I mean. I think that the reality is that we have to focus on how to move forward and not get too wrapped up in trying to protect that which is going down in flames no matter what we do...In general, creativity's edge lies in the unexpected as well as the hidden. If they don't see it coming or just plain don't believe what they do see...they can't really f*ck with it till it's too late to be stopped...look at rock & roll for instance. It caught the music industry completely off-guard which is precisely why it has survived. That's our cue...that's how it happens...that's how Freedom itself survives...coordinated stealth is the way......does anyone feel the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights should be protected from arbitrary interference by lawmakers? Satanists only, please.
A country that doesn't respect hard cash is a jail in my book. Only in the US can I get dirty looks for trying to spend $100 bill, but if I charge 5k, everyone kisses my ass.
Actually, "hard cash" is as worthless as credit because that's all it really is when you get down to brass tacks. It's unconstitutional to boot, as congress expressly forbade any non-governmental agency from issuing and regulating currency. Is the U.S. Treasury Department part of the U.S. Government? Nope. Look into it's history and eventually find a very sick feeling in your stomach. Read: Foreign Banks.
The obvious reasons for prefering the lesser of two evils are anonymity and simplicity. Who the hell wants everyone and their money-lending brother Murray to know what's going on your account? And why the fu** should you have to show your Photo and address to the lady at the department store? I mean unless you're picking her up after work...
The greatest mind of 20th century wrote that there are two forms of banking: the Banco De Monte Piso and the de'ils. Or something like that. Ezra Pound.

You have no idea how in debt every single U.S. citizen is. When you investigate where our income tax flies off to you'll suddenly feel a bit more like Kuunta Kinte(?)
NOBODY is free of debt unless you're doing something that makes you a criminal. THIS label coming from the depths of the snake pit.

Ultimately we carry only the burdens we wish to. If there is one thing I learn day after day, year after year, it is the reality of entropy. The more I embrace it, the better I feel. M1thr0s is on to more than something...I'll look for that island chain someday.

It's gotta come down and I think everybody basically knows it...but the thought of that sucker slamming down on everybody all at once has got most folks peeing in their pants...
it's gonna get ugly I think...again...

You're quite correct in that assertion JL...and it's a blood-chilling fact of life that prisons are being widely used to cloak the homeless problem as well...You have no idea how in debt every single U.S. citizen is.

Does this Island have to be limited to Satanist  ? Perhaps we should be greatful for what we have, as was said - there are many countries in worse situations - but on the flipside there are countries that DO seem to be able to get it together a little better than us. I often pray to myself that this country will one day realize that the conditions of their inhabitants could improve (and thus the country improve) by doing certain things. This is fact, other countries have improved their crime rates, rates of drug abuse, suicide and many many other problems, the US could certainly follow the lead. Consequently, it would seem many of these countries are FAR more LIBERAL than the US, and I think that says something right there. One the main problems are that we are constantly having to maintain that we (the United States) have a big penis so to speak.

I also don't feel that I lack in the way of gratitude personally but I appreciate the point insofar as it hyphenates working from the positive as much as possible. I don't see this as an exclusively US issue at all...you have to consider what the forces are that are driving the US economy to hell and a lot of it is tied up in global economic influences more than anything else. America is simply being milked faster than it can produce and the ripples are making their way down the line.
So anything I am proposing at least, would be appropriate to many different countries, though I am mostly only really knowledgable about countries steeped in capitalism I guess...

The idea of coherent subculture is hardly the sole province of Satanism...Satanism is just lagging way behind in this area in my opinion and this happens to be the Satanic forum but I almost always use the term generically anymore myself...I seriously doubt I could live with 9 out of 10 Satanists personally...Does this Island have to be limited to Satanist  ?

we can not envision the satanic world until we try.
It's not what we dont have, but what we do have. we are not a conventional type, and neither shoud the structure be. Some of us even see it as perpetual chaos, lol.
I believe that there are sub currents energies forces and ideas ect. that go unnoticed above this din of the mundane lifestyles. My belief is that since the invention of the internet, knowledge of the old gods is returning. With this recent disaster and everyone contributing, we are somehow all connected globally, in a big way I can feel it! What will happen now? what if this is the new world order????

Poverty is inevitable for some. No matter how hard they work, they cannot get ahead. When you work only to make ends meet, something so simple as a cold that requires seeing a doctor, getting a prescription and missing work for three days can be devestating. I know, I've been there.
Thankfully, I've had the opportunities to work out of it. Yeah, my credit cards are maxed due to having to pay bills with them, but now, with my husband's raise and my new job, we'll be seeing the light of day again soon. We are fortunate. Many are not.
As far as the Satanists perspective, from what I know of all of you from your posts here, it would probably be a good switch. Most of you folks own up to your own mistakes and misgivings. That's part of who you are. You don't expect a hand out just because it's there and you work to better yourselves. I think that attitude could help a lot of people out of messes they create BECAUSE most people like to "pass the buck" on their own problems. And most of you don't seem to be the type to be concerned with "keeping up with the Joneses" which eliminates a lot of overspending from a budget. And as I've said elsewhere, just because you believe in yourselves doesn't mean that you don't help others.

Honestly, doing a "LHP island" thing would be interesting, especially if it was forced into the idea of "Depression Era" financial policies. Whatever happened to the good ole' barter system? LOL But by using this type, everyone would 1-need to take responsiblity for their actions and 2-show others exactly how fragile "wealth" is when you have to survive.
Just thought that would make an interesting turn.
And, Danisty, you are right and when you are trying to rebuild to be one of those that can obtain stuff whenever, it takes a LLOOOOONNNNGGGGG time (12 years for me and the hubby). And I admit the reason it took so long was because we both did stupid crap (thankfully only one instance involved credit). Neither of us handled money well (late payments, never establishing credit, ect.). *sigh* Mine was helped along ever so slightly by my ex husband (the reason why I didn't have credit cards). May not be your predicament, but it's ours.

Satanists with Credit...what a concept...that'd put the fear of gawd into 'em...hehe...
So how come all the Hollywood Satanists are so filthy rich? Maybe we should all move in with Christopher Lee and rebuild Isengard(?) or something...
I wish I could say I've seen trade & barter really work but I'm afraid I really haven't. I know a number of groups that use it internally - but dealing with the outside world is a whole 'nuther story...
