Traps always exist if you try to "take the easy way." In an ironic twist, generally I've found with magick that the faster you try to do something in it, the more dangerous it is. I don't think there's ever a completely safe system that can give you a "magical power in 30 days, or your money back!" guarantee. Chaos Magick is more free-form and can become whatever you want it to be.

There's no real initiation into CM. You don't need to swear an oath, or buy a chaostar flag or anything. You just sort of decide one day to start trying to apply some of what you learn from it. Then, over time, you just kind of grow into it. That's for personal pathing, IOT has a structured system.
