Yeah, and I didn't really find anything. if there was a specific source or root of the problem it would be easier to fight it, but right now it's like punching mist.

This is why I posted this. I've actually haven't thought about that. I just assumed that it was the overall feeling of the room and never even thought about looking for a hot spot.

That is always a large part of the problem.
If I wasn't a bit of a control freak, something as vague as this would not be bothering me. And I am subconsciously blowing things out of proportion.

I also think that magic can be used as mental rehabilitation. So by using incense and other symbols I can communicate to my own subconscious that this room is "clean" or Okay.
So even if there is absolutely nothing going on here but my own perception of it, I might be able to alter my perception by using "magical thinking".

When we cleanse with sage there is 2 ways of looking at it. Either the sage has properties that cleanses the room, OR we think it does, the sage works as a placebo effect, and the end result is the same. We feel better about it.

My own interpretation of the occult is that by using traditional symbolism we can communicate with our more traditionally minded part of our brain.

Yup you're right. You could do a sigil to change your perspective of the room and hide it in plain sight throughout the house. It should start working on your more traditionally minded part of the brain.

That is an interesting idea. I have to think about that one.
