To me, He is Melek T'aus (for one spelling), the Yezidi anti-God-sanctioned-BY-God, and/or, He is the Light-Bearer, or He is - well, I'll let you know when it's clearer to me.
Going by the Bible, he was an angel, who resided with God for as long as existence itself, before humans were created or evolved or watever. He wanted his own world, his own creations. Thats hell n evil n all that, so why do u worship/look up to him? it doesnt make sense. hes jealous of humanity.
You'll find that a good majority of those on this forum don't "go by the bible." That is one of dozens, if not hundreds of interpretations and if I'm not mistaken, Lucifer is not even mentioned by name in that book...(or is it Satan?) Hell and evil are man's creations (as is the bible) from a time when religion was used to scare people into submission. It still is, for that matter....and it doesn't get a lot of credit here in the occult community usually.

Let me clarify, as my rather short message was done late at night in need of lots of zzzz's.
As already pointed out by Danisty (thank you) worship and adoration are not the same. I dont' worship Lucifer, or for that matter any other angel, god or spirit. For me the belief of as above, so below is far more relevant. "I am alone, there is no God where I am"
Lucifer is not restricted to bible-induced-fear created by mistranslation, well not to me. My research into the subject has brought me to quite a different understanding - one which does not fit into the so called LHP or for that matter RHP definitions which are so popular amongst modern magickians. I have no interests in either of these "paths" which were constructed by fear and restriction. I believe that the path of the Magickian should be outside of these definitions.
Lucifer represents light, he represents power, he represents purity, he represents nature, he represents humanity, he represents the removal of restriction, he represents love (Venus) and he represents all these things and more in the spirit of light, truth and final liberty.
So, again in answer to the original question of who Lucifer is to me "He is the most beautiful of angels, a god of this Earth and I adore him".
Non Servum,
Mia
This is nonsense, one can use as much or little of paradigms as one see fit.It would be like saying if you worship one god you must worship them all.
I suppose that my own bias has come through on my last post. I view lucifer in a sort of composite sense, and from that i guess that i view these "morning stars" as manifestations. I should have stated that this is solely my own opinion in stating what I view lucifer to be and not as a given for others to accept as purely fact. We all know that this is the nature of the occultic game however, and as much my own paradigm should not infect others.

I believe in Lucifer and give him all of my respect and love, but I do not worship him. Satan, Baphomet, and Lucifer are all different, but Baphomet is another part of Lucifer's being. The part often mistaken for Satan. Lucifer has his hands (or wings) in all modern religions and today's Government as his symbols are the Pyramid, the Eagle, the Ram, and the Lion. His planet is Venus and his governed signs are Leo, Gemini, Aries, and Sagittarius. He is a very dominant figure and has been worshipped by many prople and in various ways without them knowing that it was he who they knelt to. He is given credit everywhere and at all times as he is the muse that created Music, Storytelling and all other levels of creativity. He was not one of the Watchers and the only other being powerful enough to get the attention of other heavenly beings. Those who believe that he is not real and just a play on words, you have only read King James and not the others. There is the Book of Enoch, Jubilees, the Sword of Lucifer, anything on Freemasonry, and so much more. Reseach got me this far before I decided to ask His majestic favor and got it. I say research before trying to debunk him as a myth.
His biggest trick was proving that he didn't exist.

Lucifer is a blinding reality, a perspective that places all power of existance within yourself. Nothing outside of yourself with save or help you there. You possess the power to create your own reality. Of course, this can be very daunting at first, sometimes leaving one feeling helpless or lonely. Once you get the hang of it though, and get through a doldrum of crumbling belief systems and depression, the Lucifer perspective becomes quite enlightening and empowering. That is, if you don't render yourself insane in the process.

I have found a sort of "insanity" from the birthing process of luciferic existance in some manner yes. but this is as much the same sort of "lost" feeling once one has destroyed a manner of meaning that is naturally imbibed through the memetic structure of societal values. Within the incarnation of luciferic principle beats however the same initial goal of the practicing eccentric - as much once one finds there own methods to form order out of the chaos that becomes in the beginning, the proverbial blackness giving way to the light- one can in some practical sense develop a means of which to measure or deduce the values and intereactions of the macrocosm in relation to their own "blind" essence of being.
the danger being that if one develops only a bleak outlook upon their own created paradigm that in fact the bile that they sucumb to will destroy them. So in facto one must delve and strive to form a discipline of not pessimism but of optimism. This is a process of logic and reason to come to the truth and the root of the structure of interaction that one finds themselve as much in the end not at a mercy= but in all reality a sorce of power as these forces are understood and tapped.
the fortitude of focus is a necessity, and the steel resolve of will is a given. However if one prevails the end result is a total freedom from the opression of finding meaning and worth as a "subscriber" instead you author your fate in contradiction to merely playing a simple part that is handed to you. The strength of will must be as much as that of a lone wolf and the resolve only equaled by a clarity of thought and mind obtained within the facets of knowing the self.
You must shine bright as a light. To bow to no god is to be your own god, and to be your own god you must be ever mindful to steer your fate towards the goal of hand- obtainment of the will. Be ever mindful then of the power of your own perception as it can drag you away from you chosen path of gain.
only a thought mind you.

if you think about it:
Lucifer has been called the Morning Star.
The Sun is a star, and it rises in the morning.
In Roman legend, Diana was the moon, Lucifer(her Bro), was the Sun
At one time he was worshipped as the Sun God!
Many cultures had a link to some type of sun god. They weren't far off, because if the sun did ever dissapear or die, so would life on the earth. Our very existence on this planet depends on it in the end...
Think about this:
In many cultures, the god had to sacrifice his son to save his people.(osiris, jesus ect..)
This is in many legends around the world.
The sun sets(is killed, sacrificed at the end of each day) when it rises (we are saved! another day to live)
How else could aincent man explain the moon and sun? Thus the legend of the bible and every other religion was born out of necesity, at one time, to help explain the happenigs of nature.
the sun of god hahha

the idea of the morning star is in every culture i have come across. even the mayans have their version of the morning star= and as much a similiar godman mythos that is very similar to the jesus/osiris/odin myth ad infinitum. there is even a aboriginal myth related to the morning star/venus etc etc. i find it of no suprise that the same myth has roots in hebraic, sumerian, babylonian and persian cultures as well the three root semetic races. Perhaps this is in a sense a small shard of the real truth that lurks somewhere, perhaps not. However it is definately a interesting ordeal to try to speculate as to the implications that might manifest from the mining of the evidence that presents itself. Ever still the complicity of said paradigm does'nt really have to get any more mind boggeling to understand the roots that lie within all these cultural facets of understanding.

Frater Luciferi,
nicely said. Optimism and Mindfulness are indeed necessary tools. I spent my time in confusion when all my major memetic structures, beliefs I believed to have been me, began to crumble fast. I kept asking, "Who the hell am I now?" And things began looking bleak like you side, but I pulled myself out of the sludge when I realized I was creating new paradigms and believing them to be my new reality. I am now ever watchful of my mind now. Unfortunately I haven't managed to lodge myself free of all memes, but that's coming.

Original post: Harmonic_Order
Hum, Lucifer... bedfellow of the Queen of the Witches from Aradia. A bad and frightening dude who hates the Church of Cathol with a burning passion, and as the Consort of the Goddess in Aradia, a permanent part of my experience of witchcraft. A constant golden-apple launcher among my peers and a trouble-maker. The scarred and traumatized male principle of a bygone pagan civilization, an "I alone am survived to tell the story" type.
Also, the God of astronomy as practiced by the druids and their contemporaries, or rather... the spirit of that bright, new hope and early-dawn type scientific enlightenment. The er gestalt or egregore (tho not quite sure what that means) of the harmonic order that should by rights have directed us humans right up to the stars before now, but which got jumped by a fuddy duddy paradigm.... A completely blameless spirit of hope pointing out the truth what got blamed for something he never did and caricatured as somebody else. The first God on the scene of science, kind of, which all the Others took advantage of.

I heard a nice song tonight by Of the Wand and the Moon titled noneother than "Lucifer". Here are the lyrics. It's quite nice neo-pagan apocalyptic folk music...
Lucifer, walk with me
Lucifer, in the flameless heart
Lucifer, embrace this soul
For I am fallen just like you
I gave in to life's bitter promises
Yes, I gave in, but not again
Lucifer, embrace my soul
I lost everything, all I love
Lucifer, we share the dark
We are brothers, you and I
Lucifer, share this wine
Bitter and black, like my love
Lucifer, share my wine
One last toast before I go

You asked and heres my opinion I believe lucifer is the best lier, he tricks people into thinking there is no evil so they dont worry about a thing, the best thing he can do is to make people believe he doesnt even exist, he can trick you into thinking magick comes from the universe and all that, and then one day in the end you find yourself burning with him in the lake of fire thinkin bout all that stuff he did to you to make you believe a lie, unless you turn to God of course Now im sure i'll get a lot of thats harsh and i wouldnt be surprised if someone deleted this to keep others from reading it, but you asked for my opinion and you got it P.S. dont mean to sound mean lol

the lake of fire? thats just a metaphor for what the benevolant church did to people who countered their philosophy, and a clever sales tactic to fund their cathedrals. It has no root in jewish theology therefore it is a concoction of the x-tian church. Hell has its roots in the valley of bel-himmon, where ironically the jewish parents would warn their children= you don't want to go to bel himmon! becuase at that time jews were infected with a great evil of child sacrifice - a tradition shared with the assyrians and the romans- ie topeth spoken of in isaiah. To this day the interpritation of the lake of fire is by regression theological interpritations by biased x-tians scholars.
Of course no one got to read the bible for the first 1600 years of the churchs history. So i guess you did'nt know that becuase you actually use jeromes interpritation of the torah. That word comes from ie lucifer comes from the jewish word heylel or morning star in hebrew. Look in the book of revelation 22:16 and you will read that jesus calls himself the morning star! There are other verses in the new testament who call jesus/yeshuah the morning star as well. I do not refute your belief, i merely offer a display of solid truth to hopefully dispel your ignorance.

Tigerfu, you are free to express yourself to a certain degree. Even so, I do advise you to keep threats and the like to yourself. A large amount of tolerance is required to converse with people of other faiths, and writing in ways that makes people infer that you are insulting their beliefs is basically the same as calling them out and threatening them outright. We all have different persepectives, not just in these forums but also in this world, and you have every right to retain yours. Even still, everyone else has that same right to the same degree. I am not trying to threaten you or accuse you, it is just that we want to maintain the greatest amount of peace on these forums as possible, and insulting others by saying they are immoral, tricked, or corrupt often inspires fights.

There are other verses in the new testament who call jesus/yeshuah the morning star as well. I do not refute your belief, i merely offer a display of solid truth to hopefully dispel your ignorance.
why would God let the bible say that if it wasnt true
the lake of fire? thats just a metaphor for what the benevolant church did to people who countered their philosophy, and a clever sales tactic to fund their cathedrals.
I am not trying to threaten you or accuse you, it is just that we want to maintain the greatest amount of peace on these forums as possible, and insulting others by saying they are immoral, tricked, or corrupt often inspires fights.
calm down man im not threatening anyone, but this is a forum and if we all agree on everything its not going to be much good is it??? you wanted my opinion, im not goin to sugar coat it to make it sound more like what you all believe if you dont want a question answered dont ask

The word "Lucifer" is, as I am sure you all know, a Latin term. Not only did it not exist before the Roman language, it is actually a fairly late Latin term. Of course, like most titles, you could state it as a common noun or a propper noun. The first time it seems to come into existance as a name, a propper noun with the big "L", as a non human being, is in the "Vulgate" (latin translation of the Bible) by Jerome. Of course, like all entries of such words there is a story. You see, Jerome was involved in a thological war with a Catholic Bishop by the name of "Lucifer", and he seems to have written this section into the Bible as an attack on this bishop. He took a reference to a Babylonian king, and as a rhetoritician he twisted the translation to say "Lucifer" so that this king who is sspoken poorly of in the Bible would be both eqated with Satan, and with this Bishop.

I did not know that. And I was so shocked I had to search on the net. And found the Catholic reference on the Bishop http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/09410b.htm
As a Christian Witch for me this reveals a whole new understanding of the writing of Biblical passages with Lucifer's name in them. Thanks for posting.

As for me, I'm that. A worshipper of the literal entity called Lucifer/Satan/Enki/etc.
I prefer Devil Worshipper.I get what you're saying, but I think most people use the term "Traditional" to basically mean they view Lucifer as an entity. The terms Traditional and Theistic really don't describe it well in my opinion, but those are the words people use.
