Money certainly gives a lot of freedom in life. To do the great work you need a lot of books, time and space. Books you just buy. Space you can buy in the form of a nice big house so that you can have one room dedicated to a temple. Time you can buy by hiring people to do things like cook, iron shirts and vaccuum. You can also give some money to people in need, now how's that for Karma points?

Back when I was a teenager I first began fooling around with magick, mainly candle magick of all things. There was a lust spell I used a few times, note lust not love. It worked every time but the side effects were too painful. Mainly yes it worked and I got the girl, but over time it wore off on her and I would find myself hooked on her with no way to get her anymore. Sucked. I quit that, too much bad karma.

In my opinion, it would be stupid to use magick JUST for sex and whatever. Sure, we all do the little odd thing to help us in the world, like I've more than once used something so I didn't have to do certain things (I'm so lazy). Magick has so much more potential- improve yourself and you wont need to do all these silly little spells just to get laid- because people will be queing up for the new improved you! Oh, and by the way, the best things in life are free and money just brings trouble in the end.

I know there are regulations about sharing spells on of.com but here's one for you men who want to get more chicks:

I'm not trying to pick on you, just pointing out how you contradict yourself, which is a sign that you might not yet have resolved this issue for yourself. Subconscious incongruencies like that can easily be solved through some self-hypnosis or similar. Sometimes it is solved just by being pointed out.

Money doesn't make you happy, per se, but if you ARE happy then money gives you a lot of added oppurtunities. If you feel bored, you can talk a walk around the block OR get into your private helicopter and take a ride with some photo models. Which is the most stimulating for your Great Work (if you do it)?

Well, excuse me, but for some of us, the original question is important and serious.

IMHO, there is neither good nor bad in money. Money is like magick, you can get some wonderful experiences by using some of it. Use it wrongly, and you are going down. The good or evil is within you, not in the money.

I'm really curious how people can devote so much time of their lives to the Great Work, without even having the power or guts or will to make Assiah/Malkuth work fine? I don't get it. The promise of immortality? There is no reason to expect any such advantages in the other levels of existence, if you cannot even get a good material life.

I really wanna know, and I hope someone with more than a few years experience would answer me.

Yes, it's true, there is no good money or evil money, as money is a thing. It's how you use it. I would love to think that if I was dirty-rich, that I would give a bit to charities I admire and causes I believe in. But there are those who abuse money too. That's all am saying.

Oh, and correct me if I am wrong, but you're attitude to me seems a little more than condescending. My material life is good atm. I've recently come out of 3 of the most awful, traumatizing years of my life. My mother died and I was forced to live with pseuso-relatives who where mentally abusive in every way possible. I had no money of my own, no control over my finaces and little indipendance as they took away from me a lot of the things I enjoyed and used to take my mind of things.
Any magickal work I could so was fleeting as I had little privacy and they did not aprove of my practices. I did (magical) work towards finding an exit from the pit I had ended up in, because there was not a lot else I could do. The enviroment was so oppresive my spiritual growth was stunted...went into hybernation. So I guess I did do workings towards physical ends, even if they be more opportunities for me to get out rather than money or sex (that was the last thing on my mind!).

So yes, I did use the physical. I did will it to change so opportunities arose for me to get out, and find a safe place from where I could do my work without feeling fearful, watched and dictated. When the opportunity arose, the transition was smooth...almost too smooth, which lead me to believe that maybe all my dedication to trying to stay strong and to try and get events to fall in a good way had payed off.

But it was done for my greater good, not just for gratification. I don't need magick to gratify myself physically. I now have the money that I was supposed to be getting all along, and I now have a stable enviroment, and I have a supportive partner. If you improve yourself in every level and look after your self on every level, physical and spiritual, you will be happier, and feel better, and would not need little things like money to make my days.
No, sitting about on a hot day with my friends is far more gratifying to me than gleeing over money in the bank.

I'm very happy for you that you have improved your situation and I'm sorry if I sounded condescending with what I wrote. That wasn't my intention at all!

In fact, I posed the question openly, to anyone who might provide a convincing answer. So far, I'm not convinced here, as the argumentation seems a bit vague.

No, sitting about on a hot day with my friends is far more gratifying to me than gleeing over money in the bank.

With that I certainly agree, the money should be put to use or else it be almost as wasteful as training to become a skillful manager and then not wanting to work as a manager, or to become a powerful magician and then never using the powers at all.

Yes, not using the money one has seems silly. I remember my father always made out he was really poor, yet when he died we found out he had been hoarding cash in all sorts of little hideaways- we found 1 million lira (old italian currency) just stashed away in his car!
