This thread is directed towards musicians, but I'd like everyone's input.

Has the study of music affected your occult practices, or vise versa? Do you feel that creating music is the same thing, or close to, an evocation or any other rituals?

When I play guitar, bass or anything else I can get my hands on, I feel a sense of control over the vibrational frequencies that the instrument can produce. Sitting down and playing through scales has been a great tool for meditation, as I can concentrate on just the playing and then "let go", so my hands are on autopilot and my mind has imploded.

I am not a musician but you have invited us all so I guess its OK.

Music affects me and my energies and puts me in certain moods and I have found a few tracks on particular CDs really put me in a magickal space ready to perform intentions because they focus me and streamline my concentration, I only then have to add what I WILL - the music can serve the purpose of preparation, then delivery just follows.

It can move me right throught the emotional spectrum from my very loving side to my dark side.

I also go to a singing group, this is good for concentration too and also for building up a focussed energy for me.

After singing or playing these preferred tracks, I have to be careful to get grounded again if I am not wanting to use the 'space'.

It is said that music can be used for a lot of application, even dueling. The knowledge is lost however, and I doubt anyone has this knowledge these days.

I could live without a phone, TV, or computer, (or even all three) provided I had a source of good music. I listen to just about everything from Enya to Old Mans Child, and without a doubt music has been one of the biggest influences in my life, period. At times, music helps me release a lot of energy, (energy I didnt even know I had) it can calm me down, cheer me up, and help me tune everything out when i dont want to deal with it. I love music. =D

The first real music i remember listening to (not including nursery rhymes, lullabies, and the music they play in kindergarten and preschool) was AC/DC's High Voltage album on cassette. My dad was working on his car and he was playing it. =D It pissed my mom off, but i loved it. it's also one of my earliest memories...So basically, Music has been a very big part of my life.
