List of techniques in magick and their related bibliography
Hello! Could you help me to make a list of the different techniques in magick and general occultism (I would like to master them) and the best authors/books/websites (high level, no BS) about them?
-Lucid dreams / mental projection (is it the same?): Salt cube website, IIH and nick newport.
-Astral projection/Deep trance, relaxation, wake paralysis: Robert bruce (astral dynamics), Nick newport.
-Meditations:
-Skrying:
-Mastering "elemental magick"/charge something/healing: IIH, modern magick (?)
-To feel the body of light and the occult anatomy (chakras etc...):
-To construct the body of light: MP of the GD, Robert bruce (astral dynamics).
-Sigil magic:
-Samadhi:
-Invocation:
-Rise of "kundalini":
-Automatic writing:
-Evocation:
anything else?
Thank you

You're asking for the "best" books, while it is best that you read books yourself and not just take everything for granted, but think about your point of view. Even the crappiest books may make you consider something you hadn't done so before.
Don't try to reason with your heart
or feel with your mind.
For just as the heart knows no logic,
the mind can't lead you to your soul.

dont t rush, take it one at a time, mastering at least three or four of these already mentioned techniques takes a lifetime...

Try reading any of the books by Konstantinos. He's down to earth, no BS and clear cut instructons.
I would recommend 'Summoning Spirits' by Konstantinos and also his other book 'Speak with the Dead'.
A fuller list of his books can be found here:http://www.paganpresence.com/Konstantinos.html
There are of course, lots of other good authors and books available, but I have just recommended the ones on my personal book shelf that I've found to be helpful.

THOg, if you wouldn t mind, i d like to disagree. Konstantinos is usefull when you have studied extensively the Solomonic system, the Bardon, Solis and Golden Dawns systems, and know how to opperate.
Many people reading first Konstantinos and Kraig, so on, have an idea that GD rituals are MUST DO s, pre requisite to any ritual. No matter if they work the ols magic system or voudon, all of them will feel that LBPR and MP must be mastered first, and such a thing is a magical paradigm Kitsch.
People that have no idea about the GD system should not be coerced into learning such rituals, unless they desire entrance into the GD path.
Things like enochian language used to evoke so call Goetic Demons, or LBPR adapted for use in Voudun are not the primers of magic, they are the finished product of a speciffic person that learned such things and syntethised his own..

Yeah but the rituals workand you do not need to be a member of the GD. Of course there are other systems....I NEVER sugested any exclusivity in my choise of books. As always we are free to choose and to follow what we are drawn to.Asterion wrote:People that have no idea about the GD system should not be coerced into learning such rituals, unless they desire entrance into the GD path.

i do not doubt they work, they are quite potent, and posses an unique beauty, but not all people feel so close to them, and doing a ritual and hating it does nt compute. simply be very well read where it coes to rituals and their hystory. magicians have been summoning spirits for more then a dousin thousand years, i think, without the use of rigid HPBR or LBPR, allthey needed was a licennse to depart.
And people wonder why they sometimes do not expell old demons or the Names of Marduk...

You know...there is somehing that often drives CM'ers to distraction. They can spend days perfecting and performing an elaborate ritual for say a specific end and only get 'so so' results. Then along comes a witch who can put piss and a few rustly nails in a bottle, bury it in the ground an BANG..the job is done better than the CM can do!
Ofourse there are many different paths and each person has to find what works for them. Asterion you seem to be reading something into my words that I have not said? If you don't like my book choice then fair enough. I don't see what the problem is...are you arguing with me or the topic in general?

I would personally recommend, Techniques of High Magic by Skinner & King (although I am not 100% sure it is still in print, but perhaps Abe Books will turn up a reasonable 2nd hand copy). And also High Magic by Frater U.'.D.'. and to a lesser extent Kraigs Modern Magick. Between them they will tick more than a few of the subjects you have listed.
If you work your way through the exercises in all of them you will have a sound foundation and a better idea of what it is that you want to specialize in.
Hope that helps.

Hi there!
I think that one should start with subjects such as chakras and personal energy (Qi and inner elements, etc), meditation, to go on with natural magic, elements (outer), etc. Then, when we know what simple magick actions are, we would start looking in Ceremonial Magick. I know a lot of people that don't develop their "skills" through CM as good as some other people that just practice natural magick, sorcery and witchcraft, or started their practices with it. Such practices allow the student to go a little more "free" to feel and experience his own Universe. Not that I'm saying that the crazy new-age "paradigm" of "letting everything flow and flow, just because we FEEL so" is the way to do it, but a system that begins inside, and then latter turns and look outside, it's the best way.
About rituals such as the LRBP, MP, etc. I think that one must never mix systems, for example Hoodoo and CM. But, seperately, outside the rituals of any system, the LRBP and MP are very good practices for anyone who'd like to not only clean and energize their energy fields, but also to experiment growth and empowerment. I try to do LBRP and MP almost everyday before going out to the world, and I feel "glowing" and empowered to face it. One must respect the systems, but, in a very respectful context, one may use what feels it is best for oneself.
Delights!

Hi Venus,
What would be "valuable information" according to your expectations on the subject?
I believe good advices that came from experience are very valuable, specialy for beginners that are a little lost on the subjects.

I think that what the wiki needs is contributors from as many schools of thought as possible. And more people using it lol.
If you're logged in to the site, you're also logged in to the wiki, so even a small contribution like correcting a typo or adding a citation would benefit the wiki in some way, and only take a couple of moments of your time.
Also, you can link to the wiki (hopefully, lol) from the forum, by putting a word in double square brackets, the same way you create links in the wiki.
{{Editing guidelines}}
but with these: [ ] Editing Guidelines
If more people link words like this, that would help, I think. They may link to blank pages initially, but it should work out. People will read threads on subjects which are relevant to their interests, perhaps subjects they are knowledgeable about. And if they're registered for the forum, they can edit the wiki.
I guess encouraging people to just start pages, with the understanding that your article may be edited mercilessly at any point
Don't worry too much about how it will be received, it's in the nature of a wiki page to morph gradually into a collectively agreed, relatively balanced and unbiased, informative and well referenced document. They don't need to start perfect. Would be nice if they did ^_^ but you, or anybody else logged into the site, can fill in the blanks later.
I would recommend looking over the Main Page of the wiki, it has links to editing guidelines, and a fairly comprehensive guide to using the markup language, if you're interested in working on the layout of aticles.
Maybe we could create a wiki page request thread and/or help request thread (for technical issues)?
edit: well, it appears to be broken again XD I shall see what I can do..
Ok.. now it's changed from brackets to a URL.. not quite the behaviour we're looking for, but closer
