Problems with christianity

This is a 10 piece list of problems i have noticed with Christianity.

1. Fire and Brimstone - The Concept which suggests if you do not believe in jesus christ as your personal lord and savior then you will burn in the fire of eternal Dam*ation. Honestly, i feel that for any god or divine entity to demand your worship out of fear and\or obligation is in need of a serious second look. This is one of the main reasons why i quit going to church, It just seems wrong to me.

2. The written word of god(...Really written by men and translated hundreds of times from many languages and back again). This is what has always bothered me, i was told by our pastor many times that the bible is the written word of god and if you were to ever tell him it was written by man he would quickly refute it by saying it was only transcribed by men. If that is the case then why should i believe every word that is written in it, For all anyone knows the church could easily have manipulated it since the beginning.
Honestly, i do feel that is the case, Why all the hate towards pagans and homosexuals? Hate, Should i believe that god is really just an evil hater underneath all of these words or, Is it really the words from a corrupt church system that is only using this religious text as a means to control its flock toward its own agenda. Could this be the real truth? I Certainly think so, and i am a christian!

3. Religious discrimination Have you ever noticed how people can wear "jesus is lord" or "Jesus Rocks" t-shirts but a person of another religion cannot flaunt a religious inspired clothing without suffering severe Persecution from the local Christian Groups.
Why is this? Why are modern day Christians so afraid to allow any minority religion the right to express their religious Views through the bodily display of t-shirts or necklaces. FEAR, i feel its all because of fear, the church is afraid that if they allow even one person to wear such items in its community then it will lose much of its power over what it can tell its members they should wear, what movies or tv shows they should not see, What books to avoid, Which music is dangerous.

4. Hate towards our fellow man - Ever notice how quite a few Christians are jumping up on the "Hey lets bash the Gays" Wagon, How about trying to have the latest harry potter book banned because of its "MAGICAL NATURE" and how it is a breeding ground for "LITTLE DEVIL WORSHIPERS", or bashing the local wiccan meeting place because they claim its filled with "S*X ORGI*S", "BABY SACRIFICE", "DEVIL WORSHIP" and "SINNERS IN THE EYES OF GOD". What NONSENSE, Can you just feel the jell-O thick stagnant Air sweeping into your presence as you hear these things, Don't believe me, go ahead and google HARRY POTTER EVIL and the first hit you get (http://www.christiananswers.net/q-eden/harrypotter.html) seems to be an article saying harry potter is harmless but go ahead and read down... down.... down AND LOOKIE HERE

"There shall not be found among you anyone who …practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For all who do these things are an abomination to the LORD, and because of these abominations the LORD your God drives them out from before you. You shall be blameless before the LORD your God. For these nations which you will dispossess listened to soothsayers and diviners; but as for you, the LORD your God has not appointed such for you."
Deut. 18:10-14

What does this tell me, Christians will never let up on its immoral practice of bashing all other religions only because a 2000 year old book tells them to and since it was "TRANSCRIBED" from the Spoken word of god, It is a religious belief and is protected by LAW.

"I apologize to any who might be offended to see i have placed a bible verse on this post, i am using it purely for the purpose of demonstrating the immoral attitude of the majority of Christians. I am not trying to thump my bible down, i am just using this verse to better explain the immorality that this religion encourages"

5. Hypocrisy - The churchs attitude of saying one thing and doing another, Such as Proffessing love and acceptance for our fellow man and instead bashing the gays and the pagans and indeed all other religions and social practices not in the "swing of jesus".

6. Immoral Actions - Its funny how most Christians talk about morality and its importance on the way to jesus's side but yet when ever a pastor cheats on his wife or sleeps with a man, Steals money from the church, ETC ETC. If something bad happens they blame it on the people responsible, but when it is a good event they take it as a victory straight from the top. HAHAHAHA Funny is it not. How about when another molestation case is found out about, whose fault is it then, The priests of course. But when the allegation turns out to be false, it is another case of god shielding the church from evildoers. And who is responsible for telling if the allegation is true or not, The VATICAN(WHICH IS THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH)

7. Collection Plate Time - Ever notice how after the climax of a specific sermon, a lady or man will send back a collection plate and scream "Give to Jesus" , "The more you give, The more you love him", Ever wonder what they do with all that money, Nice cars, Fancy altars, Gambling, Prostitution. Just a short list of things that preachers and church leaders have been arrested for in the past 15 years.

8. Bloody History - All the crimes perpetrated by the church, including, the witch trials, the inquisition, THE CRUSADES, The RECENTLY MODERN DISCRIMINATION OF MINORITY RELIGIONS.

9. SUPERIOR CHRISTIAN ATTITUDE - Most of them believe they are not only better than the majority but they are smarter, more successful, "IN GODS FAVOR", Their Moral compass is pointed due north, They are the only ones that are deserving of paradise, "Gods Children whilst all other religions are of the devils fingers". Just some of many phrases and ideas that have been and are and will undoubtedly be presented by the church to its masses.

10. Unhealthy Attitude on sex - The belief that sex should only be performed in certain ways and if it feels good then your doing it wrong. How Ridiculous, Sex is a biological fact, You need it and you want it. It is not the will of the devil that you feel the urge, it is called HORMONES.

This is just based on my observations and personal opinion, shred it up and re-arrange it all you want, even add to it. But please be constructive.

And yet Pegans seam to have no problem worshiping Gods which did exactly the same in the old legends about Them. Granted many Pagans just ignore the darker aspects of the Gods. However most Gods had a you will worship me or I will do...insert horrible thing of choice here...to you and everyone you know. Christianity is not unique in that respect. Some religions like for example the old Norse one believed for example that if you where not a warrior and died in combat or was a woman then you would end up in their version of hell, and definitely going against the Gods would send you there. I could go on and on with examples of Pagan faith doing exactly the same as Christianity here. Off course to day many Pagans ignore all the non politically correct parts and pick and choose from only the positive parts of the legends of the Gods we follow. Most Christian sects might not be quite so practical in what they choose to still practice about their religion. However that do not make it worse then any other religion, it just make it a little less modern.
2.The written word of god(...Really written by men and translated hundreds of times from many languages and back again).
The belief is that every person who wrote the Bible was inspired by the Divine. I agree that this do not make sense. And while there was no Church when a good part of the Bible was written it is likely many texts where written by the priesthood to get power for them self. The Bible also originally had far more texts than that is presented to day. But religions leaders came together and discussed what texts should be part of the Bible and which should not. I think that some of the Bible, and some of the apocrypta, the Biblical texts which did not make it into to Bible is written with Divine inspiration, and some are written by men, either out from their own faith, or just to gain power.
Why all the hate towards pagans and homosexuals? Hate, Should i believe that god is really just an evil hater underneath all of these words or, Is it really the words from a corrupt church system that is only using this religious text as a means to control its flock toward its own agenda. Could this be the real truth? I Certainly think so, and i am a christian!
Why would you think the God Jehovah is any less aggressive than any other God? Look at the legends of Gods from the same time as the Bible was written. They where not described as lovey dovey but instead They took care of and protected their followers and rained destruction on everyone else. The time when the Bible was written in was a hard and dark time and it needed and equally hard God. The question is if a God need to be as hard to day as back then.
Honestly I have experienced more prosecution from Atheists for wearing any religions symbols than I ever have from Christians, and as a girl I have definitely had more negative comments about alternative dressing from other girls than from anyone doing so from a Christians point of view. Sure some Christians do this. But most Christians is actually tolerant and kind towards other pepole. I have several Christian friends and I have never gotten a negative comment from them about anything I wear nor about the Pagan altar they can see in my home. There is far more tolerant Christians than narrow minded ones. Unfortunately the narrow minded ones tend to cream higher and make more noise than those who are tolerant.
As a side note I wonder why baby sacrifice is ok to write while the words sex or orgy have to be censored. As if murdering children is less offensive to think about than pepole having sex. I wonder why violence is ok, but sex is not. Anyway, pepole hate one another, that is how the world works. However most Christians do not hate other pepole, some do, and in some Christian sects like Baptists there is far more hate than in others. But most Christians is tolerant of others and I think it is a problem to label them all as haters.
"I apologize to any who might be offended to see i have placed a bible verse on this post, i am using it purely for the purpose of demonstrating the immoral attitude of the majority of Christians. I am not trying to thump my bible down, i am just using this verse to better explain the immorality that this religion encourages"
The majority of Christians? I think perhaps you need to let go of the hate you criticize in others. Most Christians is nice, decent pepole who worry about their own religion and let others have theirs in peace.
5. Hypocrisy - The churchs attitude of saying one thing and doing another, Such as Proffessing love and acceptance for our fellow man and instead bashing the gays and the pagans and indeed all other religions and social practices not in the "swing of jesus".
Which Chruch? There are dozens of Christian sects and religions, not one Church.
This is just based on my observations and personal opinion, shred it up and re-arrange it all you want, even add to it. But please be constructive.
I find it difficult to be constructive with hypocrisy. On one side you bash Christians for being hateful and discriminating towards other religions, and on the other side you go and do exactly the same thing when it comes to Christianity. Sure there are allot of pepole who discriminate towards others among Christians, however most do not, and taking all under on comb is not better even if members from that group did it to others first.

Christianity like other religion has always a one thing in common that is to do good.
Even if they have different forms or meaning, all religion binds people together and create
an order.

Accept it that Christianity like any other religion has its flaws.
But I am glad that the christian church no longer holds a great power unlike the
medieval period.

Ilyasviel... I like the way you put that. Don't take offence but looking at it historically, back then, the church was really the only social. They did hold sway only because it was the only place you could go for a carnival or a picnic. Do I dare compare it to the internet today? Get back to me on that one.

Also, Cerebrus... I dealt with a lot of the same questions and you are right. I agree.

I hope this is a good place to throw out some random view. C- you set up a great discussion forum.

1)Eternal fire...not so much. From what I could translate(or more honestly gather) the actual word Hell comes from the Norse Hel for the Tundra, the Icy wastes. If you don't die in battle, when you get old and are a burden to your family, they steal your PJ's and toss you out on to the snow to die. (Sound like hell? Well, sort of. Lousy place to go to die.)
The original latin from Italy (Rome) where our (not nessecarily our) Bibles came from used the word Infierno. The fire.
Some people believe they would be burned for being christians (under Nero), the norse feared the Tundra, the Hebrews feared the Pit or the grave where their bodies would be buried. Call it messy, but the ancient Brittons as well as the Monguls believed in having their corpses devoured by the crows and eagles. Messy, yeah, but we would wind up with wings... in a sense. Gives new perspective to becoming an Angel.
Lead a good life and hopefully the last few years will be worth living and full of the people you love and good intellectual discussions. Is that heaven?

C- Check out this link. I hope it gives you a chuckle.
