I am researching the story of the Spear of Christ, also known as the Spear of Destiny, or the Holy Lance.  I would like to connect with individuals, or groups, that are still looking for the Spear.   I want to find out the latest information on the Spear, its true location and its ultimate mission in today’s world.  I am researching who is still on the quest for the Spear and why.

Thank you so very much,

That spear is a myth. But on the other hand there are still some that believe Noa's vessel was real and search for it. Some search after the the holy grail. I saw a documentary about the grail and some churches in Spain, if I remember correct, claimed their chalice was the holy grail. But I haven't seen any group on the net searching for that spear. Have you googled on the subject? Maybe there are som groups or individual there? Or allready googled and didn't find anyone?

Percy and the lightning thief - ("dont eat the 'flower'", Brittania's Lance - Britney spears), sorry this is all i can think off the top of my head. are you searching for the object its self or the meaning? try both and you may equally find answers for both. i think we could help each other with this one.

I remember seeing what is thought as the spear on display in the habsburgian treasury in Vienna on a school trip a few years ago. It's the most well known version of the spear, the one that has a golden sheathe on the middle of it. I'm not exactly sure what good it'll do, but here you go.

That was my understanding also,ZombieLoster. The Hapsburg lance, with the nail of the cross embedded in it,sheathed in silver, then gold.

I recall there are lots of legends about this spear, but it's not a great interest to me,other than as a historical curio.I think I read that Hitler was fascinated by it and it's provenance.

It's also known as the spear of Longinus, isn't it?

It turns up in Constantine,it's the spear tip that will allow demons to manifest on Earth in that storyline.Theres tons of Apochypha on the net abut it.

Yes it is called longinus spear.
Named after St. Longinus its
location is still unknown.
But in the book "The Spear of Destiny"
written by Trevor Ravenscroft it was
said that hitler started world war II
to obtain the spear and at the end of the war
the spear came into the hands of
US general George Patton.

Excerpt From here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holy_Lance

"Dr. Robert Feather, an English metallurgist and technical engineering writer, tested the lance for a documentary in January 2003[8]. He was given unprecedented permission not only to examine the lance in a laboratory environment, but was also allowed to remove the delicate bands of gold and silver that hold it together. In the opinion of Feather and other academic experts, the likeliest date of the spearhead is the 7th century A.D. - only slightly earlier than the Museum's own estimate. However, Dr. Feather also stated in the same documentary that an iron pin - long claimed to be a nail from the crucifixion, hammered into the blade and set off by tiny brass crosses - is "consistent" in length and shape with a 1st century A.D. Roman nail."

-------------------

There are several relics up for candicacy, but the Hapsburg Lance seems the most likely contender,as the nail embedded in it,is consistent with 1st Century CE Roman period.

Not as firmiliar with the origianl stories as ya'll, but have you ever heard the the legend of the Gypsy and the three nails? Maybe it will add some insight.

Maybe a little more fictional, but more magical?
