Egregore - Status Report

I need a way in which to divine whether or not some of my missing egregores are still out roaming around on their own, or if they're out of juice. Preferably without use of cards or Ouija boards. Also wondering if anyone's tried sending them new batteries and how that worked out.

Why not using tools, like cards or ouija board?
I imagine it being much harder without the tools.
Why not using a pendulum?

There's a couple reasons why I'd rather not use tools. I don't want to go out and look for those things (I really don't have much time to myself to even meditate anymore) and I don't have/want to spend the money I have. Mainly because it goes towards these textbooks that I can't find for free on the Internet. I'm also kinda lazy. Anything that can be done with common items, i.e. pocket knife, pencil, cheapo metal ring, spin-able green tea bottle? If I made a pendulum (or used a pocket watch, that'd work, right?) how should I use it?

You can make a pendulum with something heavyish and a piece of string. Something like a ring or a key is a good size and weight, just needs to be heavier than the string really ;P A pocket watch is a good substitute too.
There are a few ways you can do it, one is to take a piece of paper and draw a circle, then a cross through it. Label the up-down axis as "Yes" and the left-right axis as "no". (Although these are completely arbitrary, label it as you like). Then, hold the string, try to keep your arm as still as possible. Ask your question, directing it to the pendulum, and watch the response. If the pendulum swings back and forth, it's a yes, if it goes left to right, it's a no.
This is only one method though, but it's a classic, lol. I personally don't use a piece of paper, I just take my pendulum out and say "Show me a yes", wait for it to respond, and "Show me a no", wait for it to respond, and then get stuck into my questions. Wait a few seconds for a clear answer before moving to the next question.
Now, if it goes in a circle there are a few ways to interpret this, and personally my interpretation changes every time I see one. It can be a "maybe", or it can be "increasing probability" (clockwise) and "decreasing probability" (counter-clockwise), or it can be "I don't know". I just feel it out on that one.

I'll try that out once I get a chance! Thanks a bunch! Once it's done I'll post the results.

Okay, so this worked! Apparently only one of the several egregores was out of power. I promptly called them all back and they're all hooked up to the charger and waiting for missions. Epic win [thumbup] I then used it to try and divine the answers to certain questions concerning the future and the present. Those answers have yet to be proven true/false. Thanks again! [yay]

An egregore is a servitor that has gained a free(ish) will of it's own, it is self aware.
For most chaotes this is bad as it then becomes difficult to control and/or reabsorb but egregores do have their uses. To be honest, if you're new to magic I wouldn't try making an egregore- it's very tricky and can blow up in your face. Also, one cannot just make an egregore, it must be a servitor that can grow, is able to learn and adapt to situations so that it can
become self aware. I may be wrong but to my knowledge, no egregore starts life as an egregore.
Anyway, below are some links you may find useful about Sygils, Servitors and Egregores.

Also you might find some other useful stuff here and on the rest of the site.
