I wanted to cast a spell to give me a strong idea of a career path or an area of study I should follow. Not to get a job, just to have an idea of what I should do, a clear ambition/field. I haven't tried a spell for a couple of years.
Anyway, I wrote down "career path" and deleted the duplicate letters. I then changed these letters to Runes as best I could from a book. When I had my Runes, I drew myself some sigils made from all of them, and then redrew my final choice on a page of a sketchbook in thick black pen.
I then set up the page against my wall, and sat back and listened to one of my favourite rock albums, just staring at the page, in dim light, taking in the shape. I didn't think about it's aim, just tried to let the music flow through my head and study the lines and shape with a relaxed mind, without thinking about anything.
After about 30 mins of that, I put the page away and did a banishing visualisation, and just got on with life. I had one idea from a friend the next day, who thought working with disabled people might be good for me. I did not destroy the sigil page as I felt I wanted to keep it and try again.
Anyway, the other night I did a hard workout with weights, which always puts me in a clear minded, hypnotic state afterward. And after the workout, I got my page out again and looked at it again, just sitting back on a comfy cushion, taking in its shape. Then after I felt I had had enough I put it away again. I still haven't destroyed it. I just feel too attached to it. The next morning my local pharmacy had a job vacancy, which I applied for.
So I have a few job ideas but I still wonder if I should have destroyed the sigil page, or should I try again and this time destroy it after another "staring at it in gnosis" attempt. Or just leave it all now and forget about it. Anyway, thanks to anyone who read through all this balderdash.

I couldn't help but notice that you began by wanting to discover what career path would suit you best, but you ended up with job ideas. In my opinion, a job is not a career. Of course, you might get some idea of what you like by trying different jobs.
But that's not chaos magick.
What happened is that your conscious mind has taken over and now it's trying to come up with solutions to your problem. You didn't mention any of those ideas feeling "right" to you. If your subconscious was involved you would have had an "aha" moment.
You also mentioned that you feel attached to the sigil. You did everything "right", except for the part where you were supposed to destroy the sigil and go on with your life, in order to allow it to cross the border to the physical plane.
Your subconscious is responsible for your life path, while your conscious mind is responsible with more practical things like jobs.
You can have both, of course, but which one is more important for you right now?

perhaps the intent is not clear?
or perhaps you are being moved into a position where the 'aha moment' is possible... I'd say its too early to say. there was no inherent time limit in the spell... could it take years to manifest?

Thanks for the advice/thoughts both of you. I did one last session where I meditated to a trance then studied the sigil, then ripped it up and threw it in the garbage. I felt a big sense of peace afterward. Yes, I want a clear life path. I've been trying to not think about it now and just get on with life.

i think they answered your question pretty well!
i just want to throw in my two cents...
in my experience, tearing up the sigil just doesn't work as well as bbbuuuurrrrrnnnning it and the laughing at yourself after and forgetting about it because 'it's not important anyway'.
that mindset gets me my results, anyway...
different for everyone.

chaos magick isn't something anyone can or should help you with. thats the beauty of it. empower what you like how you like where you like. mix gods pantheons make a servitor concentrate sigils anoint an alter, candle, or yourself. shit you could sacrifice an animal if you dig it. there is no structure in chaos and i feel today people put far too much into it. SparaTiC!! Hail descorimeth! But seriously do as thou wilts my friend. let your creativity soar like a toaster out a 3 story building.

creativity gets you shit results if there is no belief in it. you can be as creative as you like, but if you aren't putting effort and belief in it then you're just wallowing in creativeness, and unfortunately sometimes beliefs require structure because your brain likes to do certain things at certain times and needs to learn to be malleable.

DETAILED DEBATE: It does if you believe so. If I believe the properties of rose quartz and rose oil along with petels and the mixing of ash of the persons name i want to love me or an essence of their being will draw those properties into that person, and summon different dieties of love to see the rites manifest into reality by summoning them and offering somthing they would like and being respectful. and maybe consencrate a sigil in their name and add the ash of that sigil holding it till the flame burns you to charge it..... its creative, logical, and in my own paradigm very believable. Especially when I may communicate with the entity through pendulum divination. A finite beliefe system can have power but even christ says in the apocyphon of john "God is not a god for he is above all other gods, for every aeon, angel, and their thought forms who descended unto earth from the heavens, and influence your people of all cultures through the ages- those are gods, but its an insult to put god among them." You realize chris is to thor is to bel is to snoopy. Even our thoughts can give birth to thought forms and deities. The fruit of knowlege tells us we ourselves our gods. Creativity and even personal pantheon and thought servitors when kept wholely faithful in your eyes and never letting other dirty it with their doubs can be more powerful than anything.
Simple debate: FOUR POUNDS OF FLAX
