i gotta ask why "lovecraftian" is under the heading of "satanist"???? i love h.p. lovecraft's work & anything to do with the mythos. i used to work with my own personal form of lovecraftian sorcery. but i would never catagorize it as "satanic". honestly, i believe it should have its own unique place.

While I agree that Lovecraft is hardly Satanic, the last thing OF needs is yet another subforum which only gets a few posts every year :p Perhaps it would fit better under Chaos Magick?

yes, it would fit better under "chaos magick". at least in my opinion. i have known more than a few practioners of chaos magick to utilize the mythos in their work, including phil hine.

What's wrong with a Satanic label? [eg] Why is it so important to move it?

Why should it? What's wrong with having it in Satanism? Why are you guys so afraid of having to post in the Satanism forum? LHP uses Lovecraft deities.

Artificial mythology refers to modern works of fiction that use mythical themes such as The Lord of the Rings, but are creations of individual authors (mythopoeic literature) as opposed to oral or literary traditions of historical cultures.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:A ... _mythology
Or we could have a folder for Artificial Mythology?
The Cthulhu Mythos would fit well,in this category.

I have read all his works as well. im a big fan of the mythos, but i do not associate it with either satanism or the left hand path. & don't think i have a problem with them either. i own many books on both subjects.

Yeah it really isn't Satanic at all. Since the use of artificial pantheons is generally associated with Chaos Magick I still say it should go there.
Although I've always found the idea of working with the Cthulhu mythos pretty iffy. What could entities which have the sole purpose of devouring the earth have to offer?

I have to disagree with the sole purpose of the Lovecraft deities being to devour the earth. Cthulhu and the old gods created all life on earth, granted it was an accident. It really wasn't the earth or even other life they seemed to want to destroy, just humanity. [thumbup] Which is why it would seem to make sense to be in the Satanism thread. Since Satanism/LHP is about destroying your humanity to become a god as opposed to worshipping gods. [eg]
