Alternative: The Great Glass Frame

I've been setting up an alter for occult general and a temple/room (i know, i know, never sleep where you work), along with a nice little Enochian table that doubles as a chest (unorthodox as hell).
Now, to the point:
I cannot possibly afford a crystal ball, a black mirror, nor an obsidian mirror (really want this though [bummed] ).
luckily I found a really old, 'ancient looking' gold picture frame that is of greater syrian origin (has damasc style design).
I plan to use glossy black paper in it and turn it into a scrying mirror.
However I don't know how to make it work or bless it or whatever to activate its abilities. Any book ideas on the creation of these?
and further more, I have no experience in scrying, so what books would you recommend. I have about 16gbs of ebooks on various occult matters, so I may have some of the books recommended, otherwise I'll find them myself.
btw I'm posting here because the Chaos sub-forum doesn't get much traffic it seems, and I really do need help as quick as possible so I can get this done before work tomorrow.
thanks for anyone who can help me. [smile]
