I have been thinking of something, I have practiced some magick and witchcraft but I cannot stop noticing how outdated most of the symbolism and concepts are.

So, I thought about making a branch of magic called something in the range of Neo-Magipsyche or Tomorrow's Dawn, and which primary symbolism are modernly designed symbols and which primary worship are of different companies instead of gods.

Yes, I said companies, it may sound strange but hear me out:
What do you think of when you think McDonald's? Gluttony? Prosperity? Unhealth?
Then, what about Google? Knowledge? Searching? Discovery?
They're big entities which people associate certain things with - exactly like what deities are. But the thing is that they're much more common in today's society than deities like Tonatiuh and Zao Jun are for example.

Things like sigils and symbols could be modernized, like these symbols:

And so forth.

I have still a lot to think of and lots of things to do about it, but this is just the idea.

Well, that symbolism stuff of modern companies, if you want to call it magick I won't stop you. However, I would consider it as marketing. But names are names, so....

Anyway, that is the purpose of company symbols, to stick in ones brain. To make an association and in the end to get you to be a customer and/or supporter.

A little anecdote as an example. I suppose you know the logo of McDonalds? The big yellow M or birdlike shaped logo. Well, back in 1980's the company wanted to change the symbol, however, the marketing department strongly disagreed and told them to stick with the old one. The argument was that people associate the big yellow M with big and full tatas, a positive association which brings customers (Sex sells). So they kept it.

If this is now magick or a simple mind gamble or both, I will leave the answer to this question to the reader.

Magic at the core is basically a push of will. The "outdated" symbolism is really just there as a focus tool, something to align your mind in the right direction.

Why not just cut out all the symbols? If you find them outdated, then just use your will. If you understand the literal meaning of "As I will, so mote it be!" you can even cut out the old English and just...decide it's true. DO you actually need any other details than to decide it's true?

Todays consumerist society is incredibly toxic, and rather backward in many aspects despite technological and in some areas, social advancement.

if you want to use their logos and mantras, that are all directed at one sole thing: profit, that is up to you, but I find that very foolish. Those icons are created as brand image - to control, to coerce. What possible can you learn from them? What possible use are they in penetrating the astral or actually unlocking gateways to actual paths of magickal power? They represent one of mans most deadly and self harming impulses: wanton greed.

I don't see why anyone would want to worship symbols of that. 'Outdated' symbolism is also incorrect - i'd argue much of that symbolism to do with the old gods and in olds tales is timeless and rooted in basic human experience, and therefore to cast it aside is also a grave mistake. Especially when replacing it with such shallow, shallow shells, which unlike them, can actually teach us nothing.

This nonsense that simply believing things means the world must work like that underneath the hood or that this is all that required is wishing things up whilst sat in ones comfy armchair for them to come to fruition need removing. Otherwise the Western Traditions will have no chance at becoming truly revived and will find no place within modern life.

The funny thing is... as blasphemous as this may sound to some it actually makes sense on a certain level. There are many post which label the Gods as Egregores. That is what the Corporation symbols are... under the same logic. Not only that... they are NOW and receiving energy. I haven't the practical knowledge, but the theory at least has some weight.

Personally, I like the old stuff.
New things just feels plastic and cheap.
