I used to carry a little 'hoodoo bag' that I made for, well... getting lucky
The only problem was... I never went out on the town to try and use it. Kept getting distracted with books and researches.
If I remember right, it had cinnamon stick, cloves, two lodestones and some other things.

I forgot, I didn't answer the part on how to charge them.
For my jar, the bottling method itself was the act of charging. I pretty much filled each piece of salt individually, and it was a decent sized jar. It was sort of like an active meditation in itself.
The same was true about my gri-gris bag, because I stitched it myself, although I had an extra step in charging it by focusing my breath into with, along with a mouth full of uninhaled smoke. Always remember, the intention is the key, and there are many many effective methods of charging, all quite generally the same.
At this point, I don't remember all that was in my gris-gris. A lot of it you can find around the house though, and I use cannabis smoke to charge it.

For charging any kind of spell, it's generally the same. You make an offering in exchange for the fulfillment of your Intent, fuel for the vehicle as it were. You can use energy manipulating to directly offer Life Force, you can offer blood or sexual fluids, you can do a lot of different things. Read up on these things. It's an elementary aspect of all spellcraft.
For working with Natural Magick in particular, you also need to keep in mind the Qualities of the materials that you are working with, and assure that they work well together with your Intent, so that you can bring these Qualities to life when you Charge them and Weave it all together into a Spell directed by your Intent.
In other words, know what it is you want, then figure out how make it happen.
And no, I don't carry any herbs on me. Though I do wear several pieces of special jewelry, serving purposes from health and protection to spiritual awareness and devotion.

This is 100% correct.
I would in connection with this recommend that you (Original poster) plant your own herb, Even if it is just a simple thyme or lavender plant on your balcony.
This takes care of the charging also, since you will feed it water, time and energy, and also gives you a much closer connection to it. You can whisper your intentions and hopes to it while it is growing to help it take on it's role later in life.
