I am considering taking up rootworking/Hoodoo. I have been for weeks practicing the trance induction method described in the book "Doktor Snake's Voodoo Spellbook" and I've got to say, it works for me. I've been using for meditation but I haven't had success, until possibly now, in contacting spirits.

I have a question- I am currently researching the inter-relatedness of most if not all human beings as part of my studies {I'm an anthropology student}. I am mostly African-American but also of European and Native American ancestry as well. I asked, in my meditation, about my ancestors from 700 years ago from anywhere in the world, I didn't specify. I just got done meditating just now and something happened during my meditation session;

I saw a dark clothed {he looked like a man dressed in a top hat and old fashioned suit} male entity, in a dream like vision, throw bones onto a round, multicolored pan. He said some of my ancestors 700 years ago "were of the yellow race", which is odd since I don't think I have any East Asian ancestry {but, then again, 700 years ago is a long time!}. Needless to say, I'm stumped by this. Could I have made contact with a spiritual entity?

As I've said, I have been considering practicing root working but I want to know what this vision, if anything, means. Any insights from would be helpful. I'm at a loss of what it could potentially mean. I've been experimenting with many magickal paths {I'm a beginner, mind you} but this is the first I've tried that has yielded this kind of result.

Here is something deeper , and little known to the
general public , or even most in the magical practices...

The runes are not Norse or German , and are used , and
have been , for as long as we have been "humans" , for
magic , and divination...

Veve are formed by combinations of runes...

The word "Nniow - G'yar" came from the old 29 rune system ,
known as the women's or witch's runes , which became the
holy word "Niger"...

This arrangement of runes , seen below , when given the number
values from what is known as "The Law" , as in not of human
invention , but the way it *is* , have values of 603 for the column
on right , and 391 for column on left...

In the column on right , which is known as the goddess column ,
or mother column , are three symbols , known as the "maiden ,
mother , and crone" symbols , or could be seen as the "three
Egyptian women" , by another way , or many variants , in the
many different world cultures...

Fit together , they make the shape of the birth mother , or
squatting mother goddess...( first , fourth , sixth runes )

A variant of this shape is seen as the frog on some African fabrics ,
repeated in the pattern...or baskets...

The symbols have a value of 341...

Taking the value of the mother column : 603 , and taking from it 341 ,
we attain 262...which is our value for the word "dreaming"...

Now the opposite column , having a value of 391 , can equal either of
these terms , yet as well so many others , it would take me years to give
them to you...

Which is *not* the way , as one must *earn* them , themselves...

Yet , two terms are :

Inner Light , or Portal...and the top one means *head*...

Now , back to the first column...that value of 341...

Ashe' also equals a value of 341...

There is another arrangement of eleven pairs of runes , which compose
the shaman / witch / druid / mason / voudun's tree of eleven dimensions ,
and the pair for the Underworld , above the lowest dimension of the tree ,
The Realm Of The Ancestors , have a possible pronunciation of Ash + E , as
a sound of one , and letter value for another...

In the middle of the tree is a pair , which may be pronounced "Payuurt + Eel" ,
and have meanings of Vibration + Bridge , thus a "Portal"...

Yet , "Payuurt" , in the 29 rune system , is known as "Pethro" , in the 24 rune
system...please look into this form of Voodoo , which is seen by some to be "darker"
and only used by "boko"...yet that is not the case , in truth , as things have been
changed over time , with religious overlays...it is definitely a more powerful form ,
and I shall go back to that column on the right , and tell you :

603 = Blood

And if I put straight line runes , around the sixteen runes ( the two columns of eight )
I obtain the value of 112 , which equals "chicken"...think of those implications in the
Voodoo rituals and practice , the same way vibration , could be seen as the playing of
the drums , and thus the bridge to the portal ( back to central runes in tree )...

All this is the source of the old ways , and knowledge...there is so much more...

I have been teaching , and working with my Tradition , for 23 + years...

It would take me much longer than that , to explain it all to someone...

But this is a "beginning"...

Best to you , as you walk the stones on the path...find someone trustworthy in your area ,
recommended as one who works with the Orishas...start with the lighter side...once you
have been initiated , and have done work for years...you may be ready for the Petro magic...

You must be very balanced to work with this energy , as it is similar to working with the Dark
Faery in one tradition , or the Qlippoth , in another...

It does appear as though you have met your guide , however... [wink]

By the way , the four pairs of symbols surrounding the central pillar
in the tree ( think of central pillar in the temple ) have a value of 344...

They are the elemental pairs for earth air fire water...

And the word :

Orisha = 343

And : there is a rune , third down in column on left , as seen above , which can be pronounced Raido ...

It can mean "to ride"...that is the source of the word Rada...not what "scholars" say...

( this is why I have a hard time with academics...they do not know our traditions )

My Native American ancestry Cherokee {paternal side} and Powhatan/Virginia Algonquian {maternal side}. I've only done limited investigation into it and have not looked into their spiritual beliefs in any great measure.

As for my European, I am English on both my parents side, though my father has Highland Scottish ancestry from the late 1700s- mid 1800s. They were of Clan McIntosh and Clan MacKinnon. Interestingly, I am descended from the chiefs of Clan MacKinnon. Unlike the Native American, I have looked into the Celtic/Gaelic forms of magick.

The reason I asked , is the two columns of eight symbols ,
was called Spider Woman's Language...the first language...

Spiderweb = 603

Black Widow = 995
