sigils and creative visualization

Post by Isislove9 »

Good morning,

I'm somewhat new to sigil magic, but I've created a few that I've successfully activated and banished. I've recently also started working on "Creative Visualization" by Shakti Gawain where it does call for us to imagine as if the desire is already present by use of affirmations, as opposed to wishing or putting your desire and intent into your subconscious ("ths my wish.." as opposed to "I am a...").

I was wondering if using these systems together would hinder any results because with the need to forget with sigil magick, but the visualization calls for focus on desire with repetition of affirmations. Should I not use the same desire for both or can this actually help each other out? Thanks in advance for your input.

xx

This sounds pretty interesting. I don't think I've ever heard of the second method, actually.

I would say create a minor sigil with a less important desire to you, and attempt to use both techniques once. Figure out for yourself if it's effective or not, and share the results back here.

I'm would think it might not work well, but magick has surprised me plenty of times in the past.
Another good note, it may work if you combine the techniques for some, but not for everyone. Certain people have different affinities.
Honestly, all I can think to offer is to experiment with all three techniques and see which works best for you.
I've only used sigils once or twice, so I'm not much of a help on this subject.

It really depends on what the purpose of the spell is.

If you are working your magic on yourself to influence lifestyle changes (stop smoking, get healthier, etc), Autosuggestion (which is what most new age affirmation stuff is, self-hypnosis) is incredibly useful and powerful when used correctly.

If you're trying to get a raise, firing off a sigil and chanting something to the effect of "I am more money from my job" might get you some strange results.

That's a good suggestion using it on a minor sigil instead of using it for more serious desires. I will definitely experiment with it more and will report back here. Thanks! :)

That's a very good point that you make with the difference in desires and intents and the way to manifest them. I actually have had pretty good results from the self-hypnosis system thus far. The sigils do take time to work, usually because my intents are long term, but I have seen some results. As far as the wording for chants and affirmations, I change the wording around and just replace "This my wish.." with "I am a successful so and so," that's why I was worried about the intent because it was bringing it back to the forefront. I will definitely continue experimenting and will report back with results. Thanks very much!

I'd always wrote my incantations for sigils and spoke my prayers at the altar in an affirmative, 'I already have it' sense. I thought that's what you were supposed to do. I'll say something along the lines of "I am extremely happy and full of veneration for the known fact that I have an abundant presence of wealth in money/specie, as of today, January the 1st 2015, of the common era. This abundance makes me extremely happy and excited to know it is physically present in the firmament and not the aether or psyche.." IDK i feel like the holy spirits get mad if you don't use proper English, or like to play tricks on you, wherein if you ask for wealth or sex you only get it in a dream [stare]

Edit: I think a lot of the new age stuff stems from chaos magick, or magick in general. Or from stuff such a 'The Kybalion' and the yogi publications books.
