Some Questions

Post by NLDSatanist666 »

Hello! I have been an occultist since last February and have recently been advancing down my occult path. Recently, these questions have developed. I'm not sure if my paradigm matters, but if it does, I am a Theistic Satanist FYI.

Are there universal laws that prevent certain spells from working? Or could I cast a spell/do a Sigils/make a servitor that causes me to become omnipotent or something similar and seriously change the universe?

Can you cast spells or do Sigils that change the past? Does time even exist for that matter?

Are spells, magick, servitors, etc. subjective or objective? For example, could you cast a spell that affects someone who doesn't believe in magick? Or, on the other end of the spectrum, could you cast a spell on someone who doesn't believe that magick can't affect them (like a Christian who believes that Jesus will prevent magick from affecting them).

Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

Opinions will vary, but personally:

Magic is much like weightlifting, the more you train your mind and soul, the more you can "lift" energetically speaking. Something Greater cannot come from something Lesser, or more succinctly - something can't come out of nothing. So no, you can't use a sigil to grant yourself instant godhood, because you aren't a God in the first place, you can't give yourself something you don't have. To take the weightlifting analogy further, you can't skip to the end of the rack and start lifting the heaviest weights in the gym to become Arnold Schwarzenegger overnight, because without the strength gained from having spent years working with the smaller weights, it won't budge.

Lucky, or we'd have a problem on our hands with omnipotent demigods roaming the Earth. But you can use sigils to ease the way and enhance your training.
Can you cast spells or do Sigils that change the past? Does time even exist for that matter?
It's a complicated subject, but I believe so yes, to an extent. Don't expect major changes though, they'll be on a purely subjective or probabilistic level and won't create major, intentional changes in the present/future, as far as I understand. You can certainly view the past though.
Yes, they're are real and objective, although in the specific example you've given, the individuals faith, if it is genuine and pure enough, could well serve as a protective force. I hope you're not planning on cursing anyone or anything similar, nothing good ever comes of that.

If you're struggling with understanding the how and why of magical mechanics, I suggest reading The Kybalion. It's available free online.

Okay, now I have more questions!

-Does three-fold law exist subjectively? I have heard of occultists throwing curses and casting love spells with no consequences whatsoever. However, many Wiccans insist that the three-fold law exists objectively. Do you have to believe in it to be affected by it?

-How does your subconscious, anxieties, voices in your head, etc. affect your spells?

-Time Travel: Theoretically, can time travel happen on the physical plane or just on the astral plane?

-Are the astral and mental planes the same?

-Is it true that all of your thoughts happen on the astral plane? I read that every thought you have happens on the astral on Zalbarath666.Wordpress.

-If during astral projection/lucid dreams/other OBE, you try to observe the past or future, will you see the objective past (like seeing things the way they truly happened) or subjectively? I'm asking this because I've read that on the astral, thoughts have power and I thought maybe they would influence what you saw (for example, when looking at the Holocaust, a Holocaust denier would be unable to see the Holocaust because of their beliefs about the Holocaust).

Thanks for the responses!

The three-fold law refers to the exponential nature of reality as we move through time. This is demonstrated in chaos mathematics and cause one to ask the question "If a butterfly flaps its wings in Brazil, can it cause a tornado in Texas?" This is visually demonstrated in mandelbrot fractals and the fibonacci sequence. Some people here might argue this; however, this has been my experience.

Technically I would say everything surrounding the spell will affect it. This is why a lot of magicians take care to choose the proper time, place, and emotional state for their work. A lot of magicians attempt to dull the effects the rest of the world and themselves have on their work by designing their own temples. According to R.J. Heaver, W.G. Gray taught by having his initiates sit in a room he built that was void of any furniture and painted all white.

I've only experienced time travel once, accidentally. Its impossible to say what was going on in my physical reality at the time. Technically its possible to experience entire lifetimes in a moment and vice versa so even if you time traveled surrounded by witnesses they might never see your body leave and return if that actually happens.

I personally don't bother labeling my experiences like this, but the community might prefer the mental plane for anything that is experienced by the mind and the astral plane as something thats experienced by your soul.

The past itself is subjective. Only existing as we agree upon it. Consider how History is written.
I'm not saying that objective things dont happen in the past. We can measure time for example; however, how we relate that past to others and how we experienced it ourselves is always unique.

The three-fold law specifically, as far as I know, is a doctrine which started with Wicca and has no basis outside of it (although it's strongly influenced by the Golden Rule and the concept of Karma). It's just an immediate triplicate of the concept of karma really (the latter which I do believe in, in it's original version, not the new age conception). That said, if you believe in it strongly enough, then yes, it is quite likely to manifest somehow, as the belief will ripple down from the mental plane into the astral and physical planes, or possibly just manifest in some subconscious manner (or be perceived to manifest).

I'd like to reiterate my warning against cursing here. It's dangerous and pointless. While I don't believe in any Threefold Law, I would suggest you do some research into the concept of karma before you go throwing curses around. Furthermore, like attracts like, and you can't throw mud at someone without getting it all over your hands - metaphorically speaking.

It's also pointless. If you're cursing someone because they're harming or attempting to harm you somehow, some form of defensive magic would work far better, a curse isn't going to stop them short of killing or crippling them (which I doubt you have the ability to manage, or you wouldn't be asking these questions). If the purpose is revenge, then why bother? It won't undo whatever the individual did to you in the past, and it won't stop them from doing it again because they won't make a connection between the effects of the curse and their actions towards you.

Finally, I seriously doubt you have the capability to do more than give someone a headache or a stubbed toe, or, as I said, you wouldn't be asking all these 101 questions.

Maybe I'm wrong and you aren't planning on cursing anyone, in which case I apologize, but your questions are fairly specific and you avoided my previous comment, which is telling.
-How does your subconscious, anxieties, voices in your head, etc. affect your spells?
To a great degree. The energies involved in magic are malleable, thoughts mold them and are imprinted on them (which is how a great deal of magic functions in the first place).
-Time Travel: Theoretically, can time travel happen on the physical plane or just on the astral plane?
It can't happen on the physical plane.
-Are the astral and mental planes the same?
No.
-Is it true that all of your thoughts happen on the astral plane? I read that every thought you have happens on the astral on Zalbarath666.Wordpress.
No. Your thoughts can influence the energetic substance of the astral, but they take place on the mental plane.

There's a great distinction between a lucid dream and astral projection, and an OBE is a very generalized term. That said, in my understanding, Astral or Mental Projection would reveal an objective past - if the individual truly observed the past. If their beliefs that the events they're attempting to view took place a certain way are strong enough, it's possible that they could create a lucid dream type environment in which what they think is the past plays out the way they believe it did.

I don't intend to curse anyone. Due to this, I didn't believe it was nessesary to reply to your previous comment on curses. However, I will heed your warning regardless. Thank you.

I don't know anything about time travel.

However, I wanted to weigh in to make the observation that nothing we perceive is ever truly objective, and this is true more than ever concerning things we did not directly experience - that is, things in the past (or the future, I guess).

When I was in high school, one of my history teachers set up an interesting experiment to demonstrate this fact. She asked several of us (those who also studied drama) to walk in midway through one of her junior history classes. We were dressed in ancient Roman garb, each playing a particular character - we enacted a scene from a marketplace; an argument broke out between a wealthy nobleman and a seller of pottery; the former lost his temper and smashed the pottery all over the place, whereupon we quickly left the room.

Immediately following the act, the teacher asked her students to write down exactly what they had just seen. Unsurprisingly, she received two dozen differing accounts.

Our perceptions are extremely subjective, even though we often like to pretend they aren't.

Consider that you could project your consciousness to observe the atomic bombing of Hiroshima in 1945. One might view this occurrence with horror and grief, aghast at the senseless cruelty and savagery of man. Another would observe first and foremost the awe-inspiring power of science and modern weaponry. A third observer would look on with nationalistic pride, seeing an act made decisively to end a dreadful war.
