Hey I'm new to this whole thing an haven't done any practice because of this. I want to start doing spells an evocation, but I'm hung up on my old Christian programming of the afterlife an hell an if god exists an everything. Even though there isn't any physical proof of god or Jesus or Moses or whatever, I'm hoping that someone up here experienced can clear things up cause I dont know up from down right now...lol. I've done some research an I started looking a lil bit at e.a. Koettings work but there not making to much sense because they kind of skip over the subject an I dont want to go into this with fear in my heart an mess the whole thing up. Thanks in advance.

Go to Youtube and look up Manly P Hall's lectures on Astrotheology.
It'll pretty much display Judaism, Christianity, and most of the major root myths of the region as tangled knots of astronomic observations and mystic/faith-based approaches to the 'seven planets' and the twelve-fold division of the sky. The farther they move from their sources the more tangled and less apparent they get.

You don't have to do a thing perfect, just relentlessly.

Read more books!
This is the best way to have a deeper understanding of what the occult can be about and dissipating your concerns. You then realize that there is more than one spiritual path to God. Some prominent occult figures were in fact christians! You have to rise above dogma and supersititions to study esotericism and the mysteries of life. Look up the works of Eliphas Levi, Dion Fortune, Papus, Allan Kardec ect.

Okay, hold the brakes.
You are going from one extreme to another extreme. You are at least 2 years to early to try evocations and 5 years to early to deal with people like Koettings.
You need to start from the beginning and work your way up.

Truer words were never spoken. Everyone has to be a newbie and start something in order to become experienced at it, its a simple truth. Learning magick is like studying at school, it takes time to get to grips with stuff. Dunno about five years for Koetting, he's not that advanced - you just need a pretty boy look and a good choreographer [thumbup] .Desecrated wrote:Okay, hold the brakes.
