Jyotish

Greetings,

Is anybody here into, or does anybody here study Jyotish, Hindu Astrology?
I would like to have a debate with a Western astrologer on the fundamentals of each of our astrologies. Although in essence all astrology "is the same", in that we investigate the effects of the planets as they wander, there are blatant differences in our approaches in Western and Hindu astrology.

So if anybody is up for it, maybe the first topic can be:

What zodiac is correct to use for interpretation, the tropical or the sidereal?

Thanks,

I'm still learning the system. I've only been studyng it for a couple years so I'm far from being an expert on the topic and am still a bit of noobie with Jyotish/Vedic Astrology in my personal opinion. I still have much more to learn. It's kind like the sidereal system in Western Astrology.

id love to debate with you over such a topic

i think itd be kinda silly, but im definitely down for it

both are just tools, and each can only be as effective as the imagination of the astrologer allows, and i am sure that there are those who are far more in sync with the jyotish style, and those who are far more in sync with the western style

omjyotish, why do you prefer the sidereal zodiac over the tropical? why follow the constellations rather than the seasons?

I have no idea about this but Demi Moore likes "jyotish crystals".
